My report is about carsponsorships.com. ("They refers to carsponsorships.com") They say you will get a sponsorship for 500-25,000 $'s if your car meets certain requirements. So I went to fill out the application, because my car is heavily modified. By the end of the application they asked for my credit card number.

They said they needed to charge my account 89$'s. They said it was for processing fees. So I figured the least I'll get is 500$'s for a sponsorship, so I did it.

When I read through their website one line had said "if your car is basically stock don't expect a 10,000$ sponsorship more like a 500-1000$ sponsorship to get you started. So I was like with my car I should get at least a 5000$ sponsorship.

Well when my sponsor package came it had these coupons in them. It said I could only use 100$'s a month and I could only buy one certain type of product from one particular compnay. It was only worth about 600$'s.
Then I did some research on the company and come to find out they're charging everyone this 89$ processing fee and giving everyone this so called sponsorship. It has nothing to do with your car or modifications done to your car.

Then on top of that you have to put these ridiculously large decals on your car. The 600's they gave you is to put these decals on your car.

So I'm going to end this complaint saying carsponsorships.com is a rip-off and is very misleading. You don't get any money. But they sure are making money off (89$ processing fee) all these poor unsuspecting mostly teenage consumers.

Scott - this is the 1st sentence in the 1st paragraph of your post:

"First off, I would like to make clear that I am in no way associated with CarSponsorships.com."

and the 1st sentence of the 3rd paragraph:

"I too am a customer(sponsoree) of CarSponsorships.com . . ."

Can anyone say "ignorance"? How can one be 'in no way associated with, yet 'a customer (sponsoree) of'?

Seems to me there's a need for you to put a little more thought into your wording. I'd lay odds that you are, in fact, an employee or co-founder or some such of this rip-off corporation.

A corporation such as this can not stay within the realm of the law without actually performing the servive which they offer. Perhaps you are one of the chosen. I read the terms and decided not to enroll. However, your statements about illiteracy seem a little strong to me. The following statement is directly above the form for entering credit card info:

"Only if you are accepted for this sponsorship will you be charged an agency account set-up fee of $89 which includes contract preparation, portfolio set up, and product set up; otherwise you will not be charged. We do not charge your card at this time. We ask that you provide us with your billing information for Authorization Purposes Only during our 48-hour review time. Click here to learn more about our authorization process."

The complainants stated that their cards were charged immediately. The complainants must not be illiterate - they all knew their cards weren't to be charged right away - since YOU did'nt realize this fact, You must be the illiterate among us.

Illiteracy and mud-slinging aside, it the transaction occurred as they say, then carsponsorship.com has breached the contract. Lies and deception abound on the internet and is seems as if carsponsorships.com is near the top of the list.

Thank you.

A processing fee for sponsorship???

AUTHOR: Ti - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, May 19, 2005

As a car enthusiast/tuner myself, I would like to know what this processing fee would really be. A contract, the so-called sponsor pack, and stickers for $89 sounds a bit high. For one, if you're dedicated especially in the Import scene, you will see that there is no free hand outs let alone in any highly competetive hobby/sport(i.e; paintballing, skateboarding, modeling, etc.) Most tuners that are trying to get to the class of competition level with sponsorships require dedication to your car and a positive attitude. Attitude is free but modding a car to even get noticed by companies require lots of work and MONEY.

There has been another company similar to this (withheld name) that did the same, asked for money for "processing fees" to turn out the potential candidate recieved nothing but stickers, a contract, and inflated prices on car parts.

Although I have never heard of this Carsponsorships.com, I just assume since they are asking for money upfront to get you sponsored seems to share the same qualities as the previous company.

I just don't buy in to the whole, no picture required or some/no mods in a car to have a company fork over large X-amount whether it be $500-20k to a unknown candidate. There are plenty of racers or show car buffs that deserve these sponsorships more than the people that happen to find the website and get their hopes up to build their dreamcar.

Unless you can prove otherwise that Carsponsorships.com is indifferent to these so called major sponsors, I stand my ground on this matter.

Know what you are talking about!

AUTHOR: Scott - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, May 09, 2005

First off, I would like to make clear that I am in no way associated with CarSponsorships.com. I am a consumer who is tired of seeing posts similar to this one.

The Rip-off Report is an excellent tool and I hail it in it's creativity. However, it was designed to expose scams and non-legit businesses and to protect potential consumers/victims... not illeterite people who don't know what they're talking about.

I too am a customer(sponsoree) of CarSponsorships.com and I can do nothing but praise them. I was granted a sponsorship about four months ago and have since been offered numerous sponsorships ontop of the original(no additional charges for the additional sponsorships, might I add). If you follow simple instructions that they give you(ie. E-mail your sponsors to thank them, upload pictures of your car) you will succeed in your sponsorship. If you are lazy, then you get out of it what you put into it.

Just in these past four months, I have already recieved about $4,000 in products from different companies. Therefore, I am proof that CarSponsorships.com is a legit business and will hold up on their end of the deal if you are willing to do your part.

As for the "shocking" $89 fee that apparently appeared out of nowhere for this client, I chalk that one up to illitericy. It clearly states in numerous places the $89 fee and the justification for it. If you are unable to read something on a site that is clear as day, you should not be operating a computer let alone browsing the internet. And just the thought of an individual who doesn't read anything being granted a credit card is simply frightining.

So there is my opinion. If I offended anyone, I appologize. It angers me to read posts like this where someone will be so quick to place judgment and ruin a companies reputation without having any facts to support it. It clearly states on CarSponsorships.com's website that you will not be granted a high sponsorship to start off. You have to earn the sponsorship and prove yourself. This is reality and people aren't just going to give you free things for filling out a form. You have to show interest on your part as well. Thank you for your time and happy browsing. -
