Received a call at my employer from Steve at (786) 309-5490 on 3/28/11. Called the number 4 times and spoke to Steven saying that he was with Department of Law and Investigations informing me that my name and my SSN are being sued by a Cashnet Marketing for an outstanding payday loan.
He spoke with an East Indian accent and I asked him if he could send me a letter of documentation that stated I took out the loan. He said that he had a copy of an affidavid from the company and he would send it to me via email. I told him that according to the laws of the FTC, not to contact my employer and to send me copies of everything he had via USPS and once I got the information I would talk to legal council.
Steve told me that the loan was accepted from an old bank account in October of 2010, while he was telling me this information, I was able to look up my old account and found that there are no records of any direct deposits minus those of my employer. I notified Steve that I can provide him with accurate proof that his law suit was fake and he then disconnected the call.
