I was hired by CDG Management, LLC in September of 2004. I was hired for the HR department with no prior experience in HR.

I was promoted 3 times within 2 1/2 years and was given $12,000 in raises in the time that I worked there.
I then made a complaint about a co-worker and a week later I was written up. The next week, I was fired. My reason for termination was because I had sent an e-mail outside of the company, which I had only done once in the entire time that I worked there.

I had never been written up before this ever in my job history.

That next Monday, I applied for UI benefits, which I was denied 3 times for and then I had eventually gotten them because I had fought for them so many times.
During this time period, which has been over a year now, I have been applying to job after job and I'm still unemployed.

I get calls from employers and they tell me that they will set me up for an interview and then after that, I don't get any phone calls back. This has happened time and time again and I have come to the point now that I think CDG Management has done something to prevent me from working.

I am outraged and above all angry that a lucrative employer such as CDG Management, LLC can ruin someone's life like this.

Easy to find out what they are saying...

AUTHOR: Giselle - (U.S.A.)

Just have a friend call and pretend to be from XYZ company, doing a reference check on you. Make sure the friend is articulate and sounds believeable, as if they are really calling from the HR dept of a company. Obviously, you want the company to be out of state or at least not in the same region. But anyway, this is an easy way to find out what, if anything, this company is saying about you to prospective employers.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Bad References.

You need to find out exactly what this company is telling your prospective employers about you. If you feel comfortable enough, ask one of these companies who are canceling your interviews. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, perhaps you might have a friend who owns a company to call them under the impression that you are applying for a job with them and see what they say about you. If it were me, I would join an employment agency and be honest and upfront about the situation. Your recruiter will be able to find out exactly what is being said about you and help you overcome it.

It is not illegal for a company to give you a bad reference, unless what they are saying is factually untrue. For example, if they say you stole from them, that is defamatory. If they say that they don't believe you were being fully honest with them, they is not defamatory. Many companies will give you a less than favorable reference by simply answering 'no comment'.

Each state differs in their laws on what is and is not acceptable to say during employment background checks, as well and any recourse you may have. Check the laws in your state.

Good Luck to you!
