My husband and i purchased a car and it was financed by C&F. we alwayed paid our
payment on time. my husband passed away. We had no insurance his income was the
main income for the household. I tried to keep the payments up but it was impossiable. I asked to reduce my payment to something i could afford so i could keep
my car. This was the last thing he and i purchased togather so it meant alot to me to keep it. C&F would even consider this. they called work everyday then when i told them i was busy they wouldnt hang up. If i hung up they called back. They even told coworkers who they were and what they wanted mainly this man named MARK. I turned in my car it broke my heart 2002 dodge durango 77,000 miles great shape. I now have a granishment against me. They take about 100 dollars a week out of my check. this leaves me about $200.00 a week to live on gas food everything. Whats funny is that when the car industry and lending industry got in trouble the goverment bailed them out!!!! No one have lifted a hand to help me!!!! I want to know how they get away with this??? They claim they didnt sell my car which i know is a lie so im paying the full loan!!! Is this fair NO!!!!!!! im gettig nailed to wall by a bunch of greedy bankers and im supposed to comply!!!!! help what can i do?????

There's No "Getting Away" With Anything!

I can appreciate the loss you've had with your husband. His life is and was worth more to you and all the people he interacted with than any car.
Here's what has happened. The car payments were not paid as agreed to in the contract. Quite frankly, no loan company cares about the reason for this, all they care about is getting the money the borrower did promise to pay. You gave back the car as a voluntary repossession. Doing this DOES NOT MAKE THE LOAN VANISH! The borrower is still on the hook for the contracted amount. They sued you and you would have been served a summons for this action. Apparently you didn't show up and you lost by default. They probably made an offer to you to pay the balance. Since you did not agree to this, they obtained a judgement and order to garnish your wages. It isn't a matter of "greedy bankers" because this isn't a bank. You the borrower failed to meet the payments. There is nothing illegal, immoral or unethical about this. Its done all the time.
What can you do now? Probably not much other than to get an additional job or part time job to bring in more money. The garnishment will continue until the contract amount is satisfied.
This isn't the end of the world. It will end when satisfaction is reached and the lender is "made whole". What is most important is although they TOOK the car, nobody can take the memories of your husband!
