It ought to be immediately clear to viewers familiar with PBS to see how money hungry the station has become. The producers want people to think that their pledge drive is only a seasonal venture. But take notice and beware how unrelenting are their solicitation efforts and to the point that one can hardly tune in without being asked to make a donation. Always some gimmick or reminder of some sort or another how heavily the station relies on each and every personal donor and contribution. Truth is,the network has quite a generous grant from the government and sponsors and the better portion of funds collected amounts mostly to profit for the stations already rich executives and board of directors. One of those cute and well camouflaged money raising operations looking to feed on your sympathy and support!

If one has doubts regarding the quality of PBS programming and/or who actually benefits from viewer donations then simpy see the station's tax filing and quartely reports. Go to http//tinyurl.com/DPTV-ripsyo uff. No doubt more recent reports are available,but this link is certainly pertinent and may also indicate a pattern of public deception. Station stuck on perpetual fund raising mode and with little consideration for dollars received! further, the rehashing and repetious programs falls far short of 'viewer enrichment' except perhaps for those who stand to profit from this fixed agenda.

PBS = PUBLIC BROADCASTING SYSTEM IE: It relies on PUBLIC SUPPORT!! Where are these greedy individuals you speak of?
(((redacted))) PBS does not get private money and relies on these telethons to get money to pay the staff to keep the station running!!! Do some research. They do get government monies, corporations that donate and membership dues so they need to get money from other entities ie: private citizens. IF you like the programming then donate - if not then don't.
