Truth and only truth, because it dont get no stranger.
Entered into an agreement with chapman ford scottsdale to finance a 2008 hyundai accent gs. Good
on gas mileage I needed the vehicle for the type of work I do which is deliver narcotics and other
prescribed medications to terminally ill clients across the valley at night and simple courier tasks
during the day. This agreement originally started in the month of feb 2015, due to paperwork issues in the
first 45 days of the process to make the contract official the time to do so ran out and they began
again. I had car for 45 days no payment. Ran very well and I must admit I thought the car was a pretty
solid and peppy vehicle. Then car sputtered and died and check engine light came on. Got vehicle to
Chapman they replaced a faulty spark plug and I was on my way. 45 more days, paperworks all
done everything is official, first payment around the corner. Timing belt breaks. Now the car is under
warranty that I purchased and Im ok with it being fixed by chapman. Damage to vehicle required a
replacement engine under the warranty. Was told verbally and in writing by representative and
salesman as well as service manager the engine would be a new one, not a used engine but all new parts. I
was told by service manager a new crate engine was ordered and would be installed.
Something that should have taken at most a few days turned into a few weeks. I finally am told
car is ready. Go to pick up car after being assured it was test driven for twenty miles or more and that
it ran fine. Told by service manager himself he was the one who test drove it. (and was suprised he said
he was the one who drove it.) Confident the vehicle had to perform properly I took it for a test drive.
Engine sputtered and choked the second I was out of lot, made a u turn check engine light came on. Pulled
back into dealership. They say they will take care of it, I head back to work in rental. Called again, was
told gasket had ripped and oil got into the spark plugs. Told car was fixed and that it was test driven
20 miles and all is well. I come to get car while working,.. give rental back and transfer all my
contents from rental to my vehicle. Will do test drive and let them know how it goes. Vehicle performs
horribly,.no acceleration,..sluggish and rough idle, steering shaking at fifty miles per hour. At first
opportunity I call rosie my service rep and leave a voicemail stating exactly how vehicle is performing.
I had a few moments to myself to look over the repair order paperwork I had requested from Rosie. It stated
"Installed 785 :used engine 7078568 LKQ" After seeing this I was livid. So I do some research on LKQ and
find they are sellers of used engines. Upon further searching I find the exact car this engine actually
came from and to my shock and amazement the engine comes out of a "Totaled 2008 hyundai accent four
door automatic" bear in mind my vehicle is a manual. The vehicle this engine came out of has extensive front
end damge and was poorly maintained at best. At any rate it is NOT the new engine I was promised. What advice do you have if any on the next step to take?
