My fiance' is 57 years old and has been in rehabilitation after almost dying of blood clots 3 plus years ago. He has been recuperating in a nursing home for almost 2 years of this time. He is permanently disabled and lives on his Social Security disability check. My purpose in giving this information is to show just how predatory this company really is ... they will even take advantage of someone in this position.

We had finally decided that my fiance' would move here to Oklahoma after a year of "Wisconsin or Oklahoma ???" I have a 5 year old grandson dealing with his parents getting a divorce ... I could not imagine deserting him ... now more than ever. My fiance' has lived in Milwaukee all his life, so this was a HUGE decision, but coming here also meant ... no more nursing home. We are both disabled, so whatever move was made ... needed to be a "permanent" one.

Like the previous scam report ... my fiance' spoke to "Brian" ... I have begun to doubt if this "person" actually exists ... because "his" number is answered by either an immediate "nameless" voicemail box ... or more often, a recording saying the "mailbox" is full. This anonymous "person" also never returned ANY of our countless calls once Chase Relocations had their deposit AND my fiance's belongings ... which include his WALKERS (2), $12,000 WHEELCHAIR (all specially equipped) , ... his medical Craftmatic bed ... as well as everything he owns.

"Brian" made all the necessary arrangements ... we have an email copy of the agreement. This included stopping at 3 family members homes ... the furtherest stop being 40 miles away from the nursing home, HALF a mile from that one away for the second, and 30 miles from the first stop for the third ... he was billed $250.00 for these stops ... the half mile away "pick-up" location consisted ONLY of a 27 inch television ... all three were notified and prepared for Chase Relocations arrival. NONE of these homes required any excessive "walking distance" ... first was a home (boxes in driveway), second was an apt complex where they pulled right up to the front door, and the third was another home (driveway again). My fiance' had paid them the agreed deposit, after all the arrangements were solidified. And no, he DID NOT "keep changing" the items to be moved as the previous rebuttal stated re the Porter, Texas complaint.

What DID happen ...

They KNEW he had to be moved out by July 1st ... the "move date" was scheduled for the MORNING of June 30th ... to provide plenty of time for the movers and his departure from the nursing home in a timely manner. On the morning of the 30th, he received a call from some "dispatcher" stating "the truck broke down" and it might be that afternoon. Later that same day, this person called again ... it would be July 1st. July 1st arrives and they call saying it would now be JULY 2ND ... "because the truck had to be towed to Chicago". If my fiance' had stayed ... it would have cost him another $1500.00 ... a month's cost at the nursing home. They KNEW he would not be able to wait on them.

They FINALLY pick up his belongings JULY 3rd ... throw some TWENTY pages of assorted paperwork at his older sister , one of the stops ... who later said "she felt like she was signing her life away there were so many places to sign", and the movers were rushing her to do so. "They needed to get to the rest of the three stops and get on the road." They ALL had my fiance's cell phone number, but NEVER called him after stating it would be TWO DAYS LATE ... then ACTUALLY STARTED THE MOVE THREE DAYS LATE ... once they KNEW he would HAVE to be gone. In essence, setting him up for the "kill".

An old family friend drove him down here, leaving the morning of JULY 2nd, stopping one night at a motel. They took their time and arrived here BEFORE the movers had even BEGUN. When he called home to Milwaukee and discovered NOTHING had been picked up yet, he tried to contact Chase Relocations ... to no avail. NO ONE ANSWERED THE NUMBER HE WAS GIVEN. Finally, on a call he made to check on the situationON JULY 3rd, he was told they had finally begun ... BY THE NURSING HOME NURSES.

ONCE THEY FINALLY HAVE EVERYTHING ...

He gets a call from a "dispatcher" ... stating there were "additional charges" ... of OVER $800 !!! He is a very mild-mannered man and voiced his frustration, but offered little opposition ... just could not figure out how to get hold of that much additional money ... in order to facilitate getting his medical equipment as soon as possible. When I got home from his friend driving me to the store, he told me of the call. He needed a patient's advocate to try to settle the problem as he cannot handle that kind of stress.

PATIENT ADVOCATE'S CALL ... AND RESPONSE

THEY WERE EXTREMELY RUDE
Stating that if he wants his things, he will give them "their" money
Tried to defend unethical charges ... some covered by the emailed statement

WHEN CALLED ON SOME OF THESE BOGUS CHARGES
EXACT QUOTE ... "DON'T CALL HERE AGAIN OR I WILL HAVE YOU LOCKED UP"

PASSED THE "PROBLEM" ONTO THE ANONYMOUS "BRIAN"
(Who cannot never be reached)

CORPORATE WAS EMAILED REGARDING SITUATION
NO RESPONSE

"BRIAN" was called SEVERAL MORE TIMES
NO RESPONSE

WE ARE NOW BEING FORCED TO GO THRU THE FOLLOWING STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICES ...
OKLAHOMA
WISCONSIN
ILLINOIS
FLORIDA

It is unfortunate that there are such companies like Chase Relocations, that prey on the weak, elderly, and disabled ... but I WILL do EVERYTHING in my power ... by whatever media available ... including a local television station that focuses on "rip-offs and scams" if necessary to WARN EVERYONE POSSIBLE ... if you hear the NAME of Chase Relocations ... RUN ... AS FAST AND FAR AS YOU CAN ... DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO CONTINUE TO RIP OFF UNSUSPECTING INNOCENT CONSUMERS AGAIN !!!

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company

Dear Erwin Fahrnow-REBUTTAL to your "claims"

AUTHOR: Joe@chase - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 04, 2009

To begin with, we FIRST received Mr.Fahrnow's request June 23rd.
When we received it, we didn't actually speak with with Mr.Fahrnow untill
June 24th.When we did speak, we finally provided his rate on June 24th.
Mr.Fahrnow (after MANY calls/emails-WE CAN prove it, want copies??)
makes a "reservation" on June 26th.
And,originally, he requested July 2nd as the pickup.

Mr.FAHRNOW THEN PROCEEDS TO MAKE the reservation(for July 2nd).
Then, on June 27th-he suddenly requests pickup for June 30th.Now,instead of providing us with the (MINIMUM) of 7 days prior-we are given 3 days-and we explain we WILL TRY to aim for June 30th-but with the MAJOR HOLIDAY (July 4th) and driver's job's assigned (along with vacations assigbed to the alloted employees)-we tried our hardest to accomodate.

We call him same day and explain
that July 2nd will be the earliest-as it's impossible to get someone sooner.And,Mr.Fahrnow is the ONLY person we( I, BRIAN,Dori, etc.) ever dealt with for the duration of the ENTIRE move. For the record, he was a nice guy, and explained SOME of his physical condition, and Brian, and others-bent over backwards for an individual who ONLY gave 4 days notice for a pickup.

Next-comes the bombshell.
On June 26th-after the issue with LAST MINUTE DATE CHANGE-Mr.Fahrnow then explains he has 3 ADDITIONAL pickups.
And mind you-not a FEW miles away-but a total of 70-90 combined miles.
We explained if he wouldn't rather combine the items himself, ans save the money-and he "scoffed" at the notion, as he agreed that the "cost was great!" and made numerous mentions of GLADLY paying the $250.00 for the hassle.

So, we do the research and agree to do it, at the alotted cost.
So, now-we had to do 4 pickups in one day, and the customer expects us to get this done by June 30th.We assure him it can't be done on that date-but we can accomodate him for the...4 SEPERATE PICKUP LOCATIONS and keep the same ORIGNAL PICKUP DATE he shceduled for(July 2nd).

Now, Brian is one of our best employees-and never avoided Erwin.
Incidentally, Brian ALSO was allotted a short vacation time from July 1-5TH.
FOR THE RECORD-Brian came in (on his own accord) and worked on the 3rd and partially on the 4th.
Obviously "PORCELAIN" began her email with details on the welfare of her family and the state of her and family's health , which is absolutely irralvant to THIS situation and an obvious pandering for sympathy.
Now, we're regular, hard-worknig people-and we GAVE Erwin everything we could(INCLUDING 2 TV BOXES FREE-and a $60 discount).Did we need to? Do we normally-No, not if customers give us LESS than 7 days notice right before a MAJOR holiday. But,Brian FOUGHT for Erwin, and said he could use it( and given his physical state-figured he couldn't possibly "pack" 2 tv's)-and helped him out.
Now, onto the move date.

Brian came into work on the 3rd-to help out with this move.
Why? Apprently, we weren't given ANY numbers to ANY of the family member's at the addtional stops Becuase Erwin explained(repeatedly) that we should call him-and he would(in turn)-call the family.Brian warned this was a bad idea-but Erwin persisted.Well, ERWIN was wrong-and we could not reach him or anyone July 2nd for pickup. So, we waited till the 3rd-and relied on Erwin to make the calls to each family member at each stop.2 of the family members(out of the 4 total stops) weren't available at the homes at the times we reuqested.
We waited on each end for over 40 minutes untill people arrived and let us get to work.Obviously that's not very acommodating to our drivers. When one arrived(the sister)-we were given a DETAILED account of how rude the family was, and how abbrasive they were to get our men out of there.
NOW-on 3 of the 4 stops-there were ALOT of ADDTIONAL ITEMS,apprently Erwin and Porcelain neglected to mention this.
They obviously mentinod the $800 in charges-but not becuase they had a good 25 ADDTIONAL ITEMS.One or two can be contrued as "negligible", but 25??!!, That's just dishonest or disorganized.

Now, before we take anything, we explain the EXTRA ITEMS will have an EXTRA charge, which we place in writing and give to the fmaily. The total addtional chrage of $800 was agreed to! Verbally and in writing.
They ALL reviewed it, verified it and ran EVERHYTHING through Erwin, who okayed it all. And, incidentally-BRIAN spoke to 2 of the fmaily members on JULY 3rd-AND not Erwin, who was apprently out of communication range.
After Brian helped clear these things up-he took some of the 4th off, and returned the next day.Brian didn't need to help out, but takes GREAT PRIDE in his own customers-and came in JUST TO HELP Erwin out. And, oddly enough-when Erwin and Brian spoke on July 5th-They had a great conversatino(Brian made notes-and we have CALL LOGS to verify)-and Erwin was involved and okay with everything.
So, the claim that he wasn't involved is just silly.
Now, after some time He DID call Brian for DELIVERY STATUS, and Brian directed himtwice to our dispatch.Which, is the protcol.Erwin was NOT angry-they shared a plesant conversation and nothing was wrong.
So, to read this and hear the customer insult our company and our great estimators and blatantly LIE, is just plain sad.
And to TRY to LIE, for a discount is silly-as we have records of everything.
Calls, emails, SIGNED documents. So Porcelain, we NEVER had the pleasure of talking to you-and it's good that you wish to help out your family-but it's best to stick with the FACTS-and be polite-then create a conflict and issue that was never there to begin with. As far as we know Erwin was ALWAYS attended to,
and everyone else(at each pickup end) was made aware of paying for the EXTRA ITEMS-(obviously, as they signed and even gave partial payments). We gave him discounts, we gave himboxes free-and we gave him the earliest date we could(even though his inconsistency caused us to push the movedate 1 day back).
Why are you really complaining? It is not our fauly you had more items.
If you owned a grocery store-and I walked in and paid for 1 can of soda-am I allowed to just take 3? And would I complain if I got caught and was made to PAY for the extra 2 sodas? No, I wouldn't.I know the anology is crude, but it IS the exact same thing. So,please relaize that we still think Erwin is a standup guy( and WON'T resort to insults like you).We wish you the best-and should we also post the final bill? So we can show the "tip" Erwin gave our men? Good luck to you,and hopefully you get your concepts sorted out.
