My Positive Online Storage Solutions Story

AUTHOR: Jayden933 - ()

POSTED: Thursday, February 13, 2014

I have been using Online Storage Solutions for about 8-9 months now, and have thoroughly enjoyed the service. I have since used the service to store literally terabytes of data and can easily access it from the internet and my phone.

When I started using the service, I was completely new to FTP transfers and storage. I used the online Java file manager to upload my files until I ran into the problem that it only handled a max file size of about 2GB. So, I sent a message to the support email asking about this.

I received a reply directly from Chris Herzig, who informed me of the Filezilla program and how to use it to upload and download files to the server. He also told me about OwnCloud, which can be used to automatically sync files with the server. Now, I've uploaded a backup of all of my pictures, videos, files, and even copies of files to the server. Easily 3-5+ TB of data. And I'm currently working on a full computer backup.

Of course, the server isn't perfect, and I suspect no server is. But I have never experienced a massive loss of files. In fact, I even used my online storage to download some pictures I had lost onto my personal computer. Downloads from the server run quickly and smoothly without error 99.9% of the time. I do, however, occasionally experience errors when uploading files in Filezilla (a rough estimate would be about 10-15% of the time).

When I run into a problem, I email Chris. And he replies, without fail, within 24 hours. I've emailed him with a new question probably a dozen times and he has replied promtly and courteously every single time. For example, I didn't know how to access files using the mobile app, so he explained to me how to set that up, and everything worked smoothly.

Aside from upload issues, the worst problem I've had with the service is that sometimes in Filezilla or the online file manager, the contents may not always accurately display what's actually stored there. For instance, if I look at a folder where I uploaded files yesterday on my phone or the website, they may not show up or may show incorrect file sizes. But, if I look at the same folder using Filezilla, the contents are correctly displayed. And this can be true the other way around. Very rarely--only maybe 1 or 2 folders of the hundreds I have created--have the contents completely disappeared and never reappeared on the server. Luckily, they were files I still had on my external hard drive, and I was able to reupload them where they still remain. However, I don't think problems like this would be the fault of one individual, such as Chris.

Granted, the server is not 100% stable, but the company is still relatively small and new to the service, and they are performing updates to the servers often. In fact, half the time I run into a problem with files not wanting to upload, Chris replies to my email telling me I caught them during a time they were moving things over to different servers and to wait a few hours.

Sure, this information of server updates and bug fixes is just news that Chris emails me when I ask for help. How do I know that's true? Well, I honestly can't know for sure. But, the amount of upload problems I've run into has been steadily decreasing. Pesky files that once refused to upload will now do so with ease, one by one. If I login to the file manager and it shows I have absolutely nothing stored, I wait 2-24 hours, and it's all back as it was. (This happens almost infrequently enough to be a complete non-issue.)

And, having been with the service for the better part of a year, I have seen some of the improvements they're going through. The website and file manager have both seen some updates, and with the recent transformation of AjaXplorer into Pydio, I can understand that there are probably some changes that the company will have to deal with.

All-in-all, I am a happy customer of Online Storage Solutions. The service is not perfect, but it's improving. The price is right, I get true unlimited online storage, I can upload, access, and share files from the internet and my phone, and customer service from Chris is fast and friendly. And now, they are starting to roll out their brand new Version 9 of the service, which will hopefully fix all of the upload problems.

I already have and will continue to recommend this great service to my friends and family.

Wish I Knew Sooner

AUTHOR: Mr. Saty - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, March 01, 2013

I wish I had know about the way this company operates sooner. I had my files vanish before Christmas last year and when the company contacted m they said rest assure your files are safe. Here we are in March and all of my files were never restored. I have sent many emails and they all go without a response. I call the number and someone answer and disconnects the call right away. Just let me say to the others out there that the cheap usually come out very expensive. Stay away from this company and pay a little more money and get a much better company and experience. I can't believe company's are allowed to mislead their customers like this. Someone needs to make good on the promises that were made.
