I was charged over $800 my first month with Cingular for checking email!! Unlimited rate is $19.99

I was switched to Cingular Wireless from At&T in March of 2005. I recieved new phone that had internet capabilites. No unlimited service was available. Cingular helped set my phone up to automatically check my email.

When my Cingular Bill arrived in May of 2005, my internet usage was $814.35. Prior to recieving this first bill I contacted Cingular to ask about data/internet plans. Options ranged from $5.99 month to $14.99 month. Non of those plans were unlimited. I was told my usage did not demand either.

I agressively disputed the charges with Cingular wireless to no avail. However they were now offering unlimited service for $19.99/month. But I am paying over $800 for the same service. I had some managers say they would contact me back and that was not done.

I will leave names free of this report, but they are available. I even contact the local Cingular store to see if I could get any assistance. I was told I would recieve a call back. Nothing. I ended with asking SBC to dispute the internet portion of the bill and paid the rest.

The following month 7/6 I recieved June's bill. Another nearly $300 of internet charges were listed. Most of the charges fell in the same date range as the previous. I now have racked up over $1100 of internet charges when the unlimited service is now being offered at $19.

They would not backbill me the unlimited rate. Gouging I would say? I am not even sure that I used that much data. They said the latest charges were slow and that's why I am being billed for more internet data in April. It is complete fraud.

Force your customers to change service. ATT to Cingular. Assist you in setting up your phone to check your email. Tell you your service needs are very limited, and then bill you an obscene amount without notice or anyway to verfiy the billing is not a mistake. Is the service working right? Maybe the phone is locking up. The internet does do that. I just want to be charged the going rate for a service like that. Which is $7 to $20 with any other cellular service. I am being ripped off.
