It took me a long time to finally become a cellphone user mainly because of the complicated phone offers and service plans. I am so sorry I choice Cingular. I'm even more sorry for the people who are not as savy a consumer as I am. Why is a company like Cingular allowed to use the word FREE on any cellphone offer?? The phone is not free when you pay $400 and Cingular sits on your rebate money for an entire year. How is that okay? How can they use the word FREE while they are making money on your money?

I followed all the instructions for my phone rebates to the T and am still waiting for my money 11 months later. First, you can't submit for your FREE? phone rebate until 5.5 months after you receive your phone. Then, you better hurry up and submit your rebate because if it isn't all correct by 6.5 months then you may not get your rebate. Then you wait 8-12 weeks for approval of your forms, all the while you are following up on the status wondering if you missed the check in the mail. Then they inform you that they had to reenter all the rebate information and you have to wait another 6-8 weeks. Why are they not held accountable for paying you some kind of interest? Why are they allowed to use the word FREE in their advertising? I really wonder what kind of parties the cingular employees have with the money they make off of people who give up trying to get their rebate money back on their FREE? phones. Drink up, Cingular. Would love to see a lawsuit on theses company's for false advertisement and use of the word FREE.

. . so, Cingular is the company making money off the package

AUTHOR: Celia - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 08, 2006

So the comment back to me was that it's not a Cingular phone. Cingular's name is on the phone and Cingular put together the package so they can make money off me for 2 years with their contract. The "free" phones were part of a package deal from Cingular. I finally received my rebate checks exactly 1 year after I received my phone. I hope you had a good time with my $400 dollars, Cingular!! As you continue to rip people off!!!

#1 UPDATE Employee

You did not purchase the phone from cingular

AUTHOR: Petra - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 08, 2006

If you have to wait 180 days before you can send in your rebate, you purchased your phone from an independent agent not cingular. Those agents have strict Terms and Conditions, and you have to read before you order.

This is a typical T&C from any online independent Agent, not cingular.

The Wirefly Satisfaction Guarantee Terms and Conditions

To exchange your purchase for a different model, you must contact our Customer Service department within 15 days of your activation date to obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. You will be charged the price of your new preferred item and your account will be authorized (not charged) for a $250 safety fee. This authorization is intended to promote the safe return of your original wireless device to our facility. To avoid this charge and be eligible for a full refund for your original wireless device, you must ensure that we receive your original device in original new condition with no more than 30 minutes of usage and all of the product literature, manufacturer packaging and parts included in your shipment, within 30 days of your activation date. If we do not receive your original device within the 30 day period and/or it is not returned in original condition, you may be charged the $250 fee. Returned items will not be sent back to you.

If you are not satisfied with your purchase or any other offers available from the wireless service provider, you may request a 100% refund of your purchase price. To be eligible for a refund, you must contact our Customer Service department within 15 days of your activation date to obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number, and you must ensure that we receive your purchase in original new condition including the wireless device(s) with no more than 30 minutes of usage, product literature, manufacturer packaging and parts shipped with your order within 30 days of your activation date.

Equipment Condition
All returned merchandise is subject to review and must be returned in original new condition including all of the components within the original box, with no more than 30 minutes of usage on the device. At our discretion, your return may be declined due to cosmetic or internal damage to the device(s), parts, manufacturer packaging/literature, etc., thus resulting in a partial credit or you may be required to reimburse the $250 equipment discount agreed upon within the Terms & Conditions at the point of purchase. Returned items will not be sent back to you.

Fees Charged by your Wireless Carrier
If you signed a contract for a new account with a wireless service provider and do not wish to keep the service, it is your responsibility to contact the carrier to cancel your account. You should contact the carrier directly regarding any activation fees, monthly usage costs, taxes, and/or early termination fees that may be owed.

Most wireless carriers do not charge termination fees if you cancel a new account within the first 15 days of establishing a new contract; however if you return a wireless device and do not deactivate your service with your wireless carrier, you may be charged monthly usage costs, taxes, and/or early termination fees as agreed upon within the Terms & Conditions at the point of purchase.
