couple: 1 is unemployed (lost job due to economy) 1 is on SS Disability, yes, we did make our house payments in full, on time. CitiMortgage took almost a year to even have someone call and discuss our case, giving us instructions on what to do.

We were told (by an agent at CitiMortgage) if we wanted to even be considered for modification we had to MISS A PAYMENT.  Against everything we held dear (Which was our over 820 credit score we missed a payment). Magically, we were now getting calls from them.

We tried to modify, weren't approved, (our income wasn't enough to make the modification work,) but couldn't get that in writing. We then were approved for a  partial forebearance, first one, 3 months, then another 6 months agreement.  During all this time we tried to sell our home, no one wrote a contract. Finally, we had to take the house off the market, we lost an extension for unemployment and contacted CitiMortgage to ask if they would consider a buyer who might offer less on the house (About 15,000.) if we could get them to write a contract. We were told, no, if you got a contract it would have to be presented by a short sale expert. We argued that by the time that short sale expert dwindles all their commission, offers, etc. CitiMortgage would end up losing hundreds of thousands of dollars on a million dollar home.  We were told by CitiMortgage, that a short sale expert is the only acceptable conclusion.

The house was off the market for 3 days, a firm contract offering $20,000. less than what we owed on our 1st and second was presented to us. We called CitiMortgage, we have a contract in hand for closing in 6 weeks offering $20,000. less than the mortgage, can we make a deal? I am transferred to their short sale dept. the agent tells us CitiMortgage can't accept that, we have to get a short sale expert and short sale the home. We lost the contract, although we countered their offer for $39,000. more to cover the realtors commission.

We have no money to make another partial forebearance payment. We could of had the house sold. Now we are forced into a short sale or foreclosure. We are so screwed!
