City Club Restaurant of Naperville rips off employee. Naperville Illinois

 Was "hired" at the end of March 2006. Was told I would have approx 1 to 2 weeks of paid training before put on floor. Was required to memorize entire menu, ingredients used in every appt, entree, dessrt, floor and seating chart, table numbers and wine list and prices and would be "tested" on such. Created flash cards etc. Training mostly consisted of sweeping, mopping floor, scraping food off dishes for dishwasher, taking out garbage etc, wiping down tables. Spent approx $100 on required specific shirt, pants, shoes, notebooks, required change holder/maker,even required to purchase "crumbscraper" plus gas money.

     After about three and a half weeks, inquired when paychecks were distributed. Was given some explanation of some payroll company problem and that they were delayed. Finally, given some tables to serve and put on floor after passing "tests". Two weeks later again inquired about paychecks, given same explanation. Next day went to work, my name and schedule was crossed out all the way through with thick black marker. I left and tried to contact, manager, person who hired me, and co-ower on phone. Whoever I inquired about was told they were "unavailable" This was the middle of April 06.

   Went in person, and was blown off, like I had never worked there at all. Wasting a month and a half of my life on this supposed "job" caused me to have to break my lease and move from my apartment, losing a $680 security deposit.

  Filed a complaint with the Labor Department. They never persued, or resolved it. Labor Department just sent 2  letters saying contacting and inquireing about disputes, will invalidate investigation. Never recieved a dime. Truly pissed off and "Ripped Off!"
