Cix - Connected Investors Exchange Allows Fraudulent Scammers to Affiliate as Hard Money Lenders. Scammers are using others names and fake email addresses to get personal information and up front loan fees from unsuspecting would be investors. North Carolina

I signed up for this a couple times and no one responded back to my query. I think they are not up front and an honest business. They just take names and are representing themselves as a lender when they are only a facilitator, meaning you may or may not have a chance in securing a lender or investor.

I am the CTO of Connected Investors and spoke directly with the principle of the company filing this report, apparently soon after she filed this report.  

I understand her frustration.  Unfortunately, her understanding of the facts was incorrect.  While it appeared to her that CI had some culpability here, in actuality someone was utilizing a phishing scheme victimizing a person in her own company.  That scammer, posing a person in her company, targeted members of CI, because CI is the largest online network of real estate investors.

Now, at Connected Investors, and by extension, CIX, we constantly strive to educate, educate, educate, real estate investors about how to qualify, do the due diligence, and take precautions when it comes to Lenders - especially when they ask for upfront fees.  

In addition to education, we take very aggressive steps to protect our members from online scammers.  These include a number of technology measures, constant scrutiny from our entire staff, and pursuing law enforcement avenues whenever possible.

Finally, the network of lenders that are part of CIX, are each one vetted, credentials verified, and credible business relationships are established.  This is not some hodge-podge group that anyone can join.  Protecting our lenders' reputations is of paramount importance.  If we didn't do an excellent job of that, they wouldn't want to be associated with us.  But clearly, we do, and they do.
