I took a wireless phone to a new company here in my city to open new wireless services with this company that had arrived into my city a few months ago. ClearTalk Wireless is the name of the company. It had been advertised on billboards and other various media. My son had opened an account and it appeared he liked the service so he referred me and this is how all this got started.
The phone I used was a former phone hed used on another wireless service and the technician would have to unlock it for use on the ClearTalk service. I left the phone at ClearTalk on Wednesday night, November 28, 2007, and picked it back up on the following Friday, November 30th.
I asked for a service that carried a monthly fee of 39.95 for unlimited anytime and long distance minutes. The service had been advertised on billboards and other media and stated No contracts, no credit checks, no deposits. The manager, Carolyn Cobbs is the sales person I transacted the business with and she was not as forthcoming as she shouldve been. Only after the service was activated did I learn that I had pre-paid service, not a regular plan that I was accustomed to, learned that they dont send out bills, customers couldnt send payments via the postal services, they didnt accept checks, just cash and credit or debit cards and the customers are required to go into their store every month to pay the bill. This is when I told the manager that for that one reason I didnt want the service because I hadnt run all over town in FORTY YEARS, going inside businesses to pay bills. I pay all my bills online and that is for my convenience.
Then I asked if I could use the store phone to call my son to see if he would agree to take my payments when he paid for his service. She told me to use the newly activated phone. I said to her that I didnt want to use it as I may not be keeping their service so didnt want to use any of their air time. She said if I decided not to keep the service it wouldnt matter as I could always terminate services if I hadnt used more than 30 minutes.
On Saturday night, December 1, I tried to make a long distance call and heard a system message that my phone wasnt set up for that kind of service. The manager had activated the incorrect plan.
Today, I sent my son back into that same place and asked them to cancel the service theyd set up and add the one with the free long distance, and was advised that they wouldnt do that, but what they would do is add the other service on during the next billing period, December 30th, that Id have to keep the one theyd given me in spite of what Id asked for, and on top of that Id have to pay them today, another $46.00 for the privilege of getting what I first asked for. They wanted me to pay for their mistake.
Id been charged $51.50 already, that they werent willing to credit back, so I was not going to add another penny to my card with a company with such blatant disregard for a new customer and such a total lack of customer concern, so I asked to cancel the service. They did but didnt credit the money back to my card.
Finally, all their business numbers are bogus. Either they wont ring, or they give a fast busy, or youll hear a system message that says, All circuits are busy, please try your call later. Even their website is bogus, and wont open up. Cannot find server, or This page cannot be displayed, is what comes up. Their bogus website is www.cleartalk.net. I will be reporting this bunch to every consumer agency I can think of, and will do whatever it takes, as long as it takes, to get my money back; but first I wanted to warn people on your site about this rogue company.
WARNING: Unless you want pre-paid local coverage only, and a dont care attitude from the customer service personnel, avoid this company.
This was the only site after clicking numerous links that did open up, however I still couldn't get very much information from the site:

Other bogus telephone numbers include 904-444-4444, 904-444-1111, 904-887-1375, 904-777-8884
