I am writing to you guys to help many families out there from being taken advantage of when it comes to renting a home from Clearview Property Management in Hope Mills, NC. My story is I put a $975.00 deposit down for a home Jan 3, 14 that I could not move into until March 1, 14. Due to unexpected circumstances due to pregnancy I spoke to the property management on Jan 20, 14,that I would be unable to move in. I was told I would receive my deposit back as long as they got the house rerented. As of Feb 01-14 they have gotten the house rerented they have secured another deposit of $975.00 from the new tenants. I was told by the owner NIA of Clearview Property Management that I would not be getting my deposit back; that I "forfeited" it. I explained I was not told that, nor does it state that in my lease and I have never even lived in the home or received keys for the home. I have done research and have seen she has done this many times and through the better business bureau the company is rated as a F. I feel this is illegal to do this and is taking advantage of people. I plan on contacting a lawyer and reporting to every place that I know to prevent any families from ever going through this. This company should not be able to continue to get away with this.

At this point, send them a DEMAND LETTER for the deposit and give them a timeframe in which to return your money. Send the letter in a trackable method. i would not call them, you want to have a paper trail. If they don't give back your refund in the time frame you specify, send them another demand letter but this time letting them know you will not go away and that you will seek relief from a small claims court and/or your local newstation Troubleshooter (most news stations have these). Again, send in a trackable method. GOOD LUCK!
