I have been trying to have Comcast resolve a dispute for nearly two months involving equipment they sold me, apparently through a third party. I called Comcast several months ago to set up an appointment for cable and internet installation at a new condo my son was moving into in Burlington VT. In addition to setting up the appointment I was asked if I'd like to take advantage of an offer to purchase the required modem and router at $199.93 with a rebate of $179.98 availble after installation...this sounded like a great deal. CAVEAT EMPTOR. The equipment was shipped timely and the Comcast installer showed up on the assigned date - but he informed me that the equipment was not compatible with the service and that he would be unable to install it. The equipment was charged to my credit card and was shipped from Techzilla (the first I had ever heard of them). I protested that this equipment had been purchased in the same single call I had made to set up the installation with Comcast, and that my main motivation despite the attractive rebate was to ensure that everything went smoothly with the installation. He got his supervisor on the phone and we also patched in Comcast customer service. After an 1 1/2 hours - Comcast instructed him to install suitable equipment which he had on hand (for which I now pay a lease fee) and to take the equipment I had purchased with him. He did just that. So, although I thought I was dealing with a company of higher standards and service- I have been basically robbed...I have no equipment, and I've been charged $199.93.

I have spent quite a few hours contacting Comcast service support with no results. They open an incident, assign an incident tracking number, and then close the incident - without contacting me at all. I call subsquently to find that the ticket has been cancelled, and need to renew the whole process. I am incensed at the total disregard for what is clearly a ripoff in which they have participated and choose to ignore. To the Comcast installers credit, he called and acknowledged several weeks ago that he remembered the installation clearly and that he had run into this situation before, but that my equipment could no longer be located...and then he had no further contact. The $ I can cover - but this has become more of a issue for me in that I am usually cautious and avoid being scammed. I wish to alert others, and I will persist in trying to have Comcast rectify this situation. Thank you for viewing this message. You may find it elsewhere as I coninue to find venues that report fraud.
