So here is what I had to deal with when ordering from Comptick. On July 9th 2013 I ordered a HDD for a customer’s laptop repair. Upon checkout the website stated 6-8 days shipping. On the 16th I receive an email that states the item has been shipped and I am given a UPS tracking # 9400110200830884199193. I checked this number on the 17th, 18th, & 19th. This number is bogus as UPS doesn't recognize it. On the 20th I send an email to customer support which results in no response. Using Paypal I open a dispute. I then receive the following email from Comptick:

Thanks again for your continued patience. Our shipping department is ready to ship a new package to be reshipped within the next business day. Kindly we ask if you can close the dispute opened against us as we look forward to having your HD delivered shortly. We appreciate your patience and understanding as the delay was not intended by any means. Please message us back to confirm if this will be acceptable. Thank you.

Ship a new package if I close my dispute? You see, if I close my Paypal dispute it cannot be re-opened for the same transaction and comptick knows this. Upon receipt of this email I responded requesting a refund. I received no response from Comptick. This morning I spoke to Paypal customer service. Paypal states that I must wait 10 days from the date I opened the claim before they can close it in my favor and issue me a refund. So here I am with a customers computer fighting with a seller over a $75.00 HDD refund. I have since ordered a new HDD from a reputable company while awaiting a refund from Paypal.

Who do I blame for this disastrous transaction? I blame myself. Had I spent 5 minutes researching comptick on sites like resellerratings.com and Epinion.com,  I would have discovered that thousands of people have already suffered the hell that I am currently experiencing. Comptick is a 1-2 Star rated company at best. I have learned a valuable lesson always trust my first instinct. The website had a cheap appearance which automatically raised a red flag with me however I purchased the HDD anyway. My bad....right?

Here are just a couple of reviews that I would have observed had I just taken the time to research the company:

"Product was shipped to wrong address but customer service quickly remedied the situation and shipped the ordered product correctly only a few days late. But unfortunately the product gone bad just after a few months but Comptick replaced it as it is within 1 yr warranty. Thank you!"

"The 4.5 star rating is overinflated, in my opinion. Everywhere else on the web, Comptick has less than a 2 star ratings. Read the reviews. This company half ***es their communication and I sure won't be using them again. Confirmation e-mails do not include order numbers or information for communication, you have to slog through the website for it. Company says products are shipped within 24-48 hours if in stock.... it took 9 days to ship out. Shipping was faster than expected... except they messed up their shipping confirmation e-mail and told me it was shipped via UPS and even their tracking linked to UPS. I finally figured out my package was shipped through USPS, only... I was told my package was in Michigan. Luckily when I contacted the company they said it was only the e-mail and tracking number they messed up and not the order. I guess I could say they had good customer service, my question was answered promptly, but this shouldn't have been a problem in the first place. When the product arrived it didn't have an order form with it, so I wasn't even sure it was the right product until I checked every number myself."

"Not only I didn't receive product, but it was problem to receive refund."

"This company is a joke. I have paid extra bucks to have the 750Gb HDD I ordered to replace my laptop one delivered within 2 days, and am still waiting for it. According to the link provided, it was shipped, but according to USPS, they have just received notification, that it was going to be sent. Liars!! "

"My experience with this company has been HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!!!!!! I agree with the previous reviewer that employees or friends and family of the dude who set up this sham company are writing bogus reviews. They quickly took my $$, quickly sent me an email with a link to 'tracking info' but of course there is NO tracking info....NO PRODUCT has ever arrived...ALL phone numbers are unattended, and all voice mail (regardless of what you choose i.e. Customer Service, Operator, etc.) all get dumped into the same place. NO PHONE CALL returned by them. The "LIVE CHAT" also inactive on their site....and also any email created on their site....goes no where, as the "Send" button does not work. My next call is the California Attorney General. ARGH??!!!!! What do sham companies like this make it so far, that they look so REAL???????"

Notice a trend here? It seems that I am not the only one who had an issue with this scam of a company. It appears that all kinds of people from state to state have ironically experienced the exact same issue. There are literally thousands of reviews that match my situation to a tee. I am not a person who only writes a bad review in fact I write honest reviews and have submitted multiple great reviews for products such as IPads, LED TV's, wireless routers, laptops, etc... I have also wrote reviews on businesses. Of the dozens of business reviews I have written, I have only written two bad reviews. One for Cardon Auto Part Manufacturing and one for Comptick.

I hope you find this review helpful in your quest to purchase laptop/PC parts. Remember these tips:

1) If a website frame work looks cheap and lazy it often represents the company who uses it.

2) A great price is typically only a great product if it is sold from a reputable company.

3) Do your Homework before ordering from a company that you have never heard of.

4) Trust your instinct. Your first thought/feeling is usually the right one.
