In August, 2008, I purchased a memory card from COMPUSA. PayPal sent me a notice stating that they had sent the money to Compusa, and I received the item within a few days. I had no reason to think that there was any problem with the transaction. In February, 2009, I received a letter from a debt collection agency (Global Systems Corporate Financial Services, Inc.) aka www.gsiworldwide.com. This letter threatened legal action for a past due claim from Tiger Direct, and it was signed with the not-very-believable name "Skip Obama".

Since this was the very first notice of any kind that Compusa had not received payment (even though they had been sending me email advertisements the whole time), I almost dismissed the letter as a sick prank from some republican sorehead. I did, however investigate the matter and eventually found that paypal had not made the payment.

My point is that any company that prefers not to contact its customers about a payment problem, but prefers to go straight to a collection agency is not a company that deserves any business. Thank you.
