Conn's Appliance Stores Refusal to provide me with an itemized bill. Continuously renewing, extending my contract. Balance not declining after one year of payments. San Antonio Texas

I have had several consumers advise me not to become a customer of Conn's however it was too late. I was so appreciative of the fact that they would give me credit when no one else would and without putting down a large down payment that I decided to try them out.

My first purchase was fine. I purchased some small items, a keyboard, a phone and a clock radio but whe I purchased much larger items such as 2 televisions for total of $500 and a mattress set totaling $800 which would easily come to $1500 with tax. Why is then as I paid on my account through out the year my balance did not seem to be lowering. Instead it was now over $2,000. huh???

I began to fall behind due to some unexpected funeral expenses and this is when I learned who Conn's really is. I saw their true colors. They began to offer me the opportunity to pay a smaller amount than my balance due and I was told this would keep me on track, they were "helping me out" or so they said. This happened a total of 3 times over the course of my business with them. At no time was I ever told doing this was merely starting my loan all over and I would never be done paying if off. This was a never ending cycle. Don't fall for this it is a trap!

I repeatedly asked for itemized bill as I would explain to the represenatives calling and harrasing me that I did not understand why my balance was still so large after all this time. They would take a pmt over the phn by chk or credit card and promised me an itemized statement in which I never saw.

I soon realized this is a trend. They will tell me whatever I wanted to hear to get a pmt and never intended on sending out an itemized bill probably for fear I would see my money was not being applied anywhere.

Take my advice if you need an appliance, save up and buy it outright or do your research before signing on with a company who does not have the consumers best interest at heart.

To show just how greedy, inconsiderate and unfeeling they are. They phoned my in-laws home on the day of the funeral to collect $ or reposess it. It was explained to them that he had been in the hospital for a while otherwise he always paid all his bills on time. They were told he was deceased and we were all there in the house saying a prayer before leaving for the funeral. Conn's called, demanded $ or merchandise. Expressed they weren't concerned about the funeral or the deceased and that they simply wanted the weed eater or needed to speak to someone handling the estate. We went on to recieve several calls such as this from numerous representatives. I can say this you will catch more bees with honey than with vinegar and Conn's will fail long before they succeed with the attitude they currently display.

I am at this point attempting to contact the corporate office for resolution and I'm almost certain there won't be any...
