My husband and I supposedly won a week's vacation to either las vegas or orlando. When we registered the trip, they notified us that we have to attend a presentation. It was a timeshare presentation. We repeatedly said NO to the timeshare offered and told them we don't even have a good credit score and will get high interest.
They keep on offering different stuff until they mentioned that we will get a getaway package as well. This a discounted travel and airfare available to us as well plus the timeshare. And the sales person said we can go to this vacation packages at anytime because we are owners. So we finally signed the deal since we have our son with us and it was getting very uncomfortable.
We paid the downpayment and about maybe 6 months payment, when we called about the getaways. This we found out that getaways are only available for us if there's any availability and not by priority based on what the sales rep at consolidated resorts told us.
So, if yo have to go skiing, you have to go during summer so you can avail. But their sales rep said that we can bok these getaways at anytime because we are owners. He even quoted "would you like to go skiing when there's no snow?".
We were so pissed, we stopped paying them and told them to give our money back. Consolidated resorts collection team calls us at least 10 times a day, seven days a week. And they will not listen to our complaints and how dissatisfied we were. They said this will ruin our credit.
Their collection calls has caused us so much stress because they will call at you at home and at work.
I would like to join any class action lawsuit with this company because they are not truthfull to the consumers.

The best thing to know about time shares:
NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!
ABORT! ABORT!
Buying a retail timeshare is setting a big pile of money on fire.
1. Your trades cost money on top of the maintanence fees. By the time you add up the opportunity cost of buying it, the maintenance, and the trades, you have paid for a luxury hotel room.
2. Uncertainty. You can never be sure that a trade will be available in the place you want to go. You may spend all the money and end up no closer to Mickey. You can probably get a trade for a place in the Catskills though….
3. Fees. There are yearly maintenance fees. Typically $500-750 a year. On top of the purchase price.
4. Buying points? Congrats. You just bought the right to contend for vacancies at the time share company. If they devalue them in the future, then you -might- get that place in the Catskills
