1/12/2005 - I received a spam message telling me that I could win a free MyFi XM Satellite radio if I completed 6 offers on three different pages.

After completing the offers, "Consumer Incentive Promotions.com" (consumerincentivepromotions.com) only shows 4 out of the 6 offers really completed.

They do not answer email nor phone.

It looks like a big scam, where the "status" page is only there so you think you are going to get the gift but it's all for show. Here's the URL for the status page:

http://www.consumerincentivepromotions.com/redeem.htm

And here's a page that describes the original conditions to receive the gift (after completing 6 offers):

http://www.consumerincentivepromotions.com/info.htm?tp=tos&user_gift_id=&promo_name=

I hope I'm wrong but after a week of sending them daily messages and not receiving one response, I have lost hope.

I shouldn't have clicked on the SPAM message in the first place, but they looked real (they even have an explanation on how the companies that I signed up for Blockbuster.com, eLoan, etc... actually pay for the gift).

Thieves.

How to get ahold of someone at CIP

AUTHOR: William - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, April 08, 2005

First of all, thanks for the info on this site. I really thought I was going to be ripped off after I waited 10 wks and my offer still did not show as completed.
My only offer that did not show completed was a discover card.

In order to resolve this I used a number provided on this site and dialed extensions at random until I got ahold of an actual person.
I dialed 866-379-8612 and ext. 106 and reached a guy named Byron in accounting.

I told him the problems I was having and he directed me to ext 139. That extension belongs to "Will" in gift fulfillment. I left Will a voicemail telling him about my problem and asked him to call me back.

I waited about 4-5 hours and then called again and told him I was going to fax him 'proof' of completion of my final offer. I faxed it to 561-981-5269 and included a letter basically saying if I didn't get this resolved I was going to file a complaint with the BBB and seek legal council.

I stated I had been patient and I had fulfilled my obligation and all I wanted was the gift I had been promised. The next day I recieved an email stating that the Security Verification Process has now been waived and a shipping request has been made. I'm assuming it will take 4 wks to get the gift ( if it arrives) I'll let you know what happens but it sounds like it might actually work now.

I feel bad for all the people who do not follow up on this and just let these people get away with this.

good luck. Hope this info helps anyone in a similar situation.

DITO!!! I included to much information on my report

AUTHOR: Julie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, April 07, 2005

I have filed a complaint against this company, see "Julie, Columbus-OH" Apparently I included to much information on my report. Sorry. I did get an email today re: my $250 check is in the mail. We'll see. It should not be such a struggle to claim what you have earned. After reading others comments I would rate CIP extremely poor on communication, customer service, and follow thru!! A couple of my 6 companies reported to me that their companies had been listed as part of the promotion without their permission. Another company stated that their report had been quick after my initial purchase. So everything looks to be pointing towards CIP aledgedly. Isn't that what they say in the News before someone has been to trial?? I think the jury is in on this one??

Finally done, my story with CIP.

AUTHOR: Justin - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, April 04, 2005

It looks like my hassles with ConsumerIncentivePromotions have finally ended. I did not get the cell phone I signed up for, but I did get a check today for $449.99. Obviously I would have preferred the phone, but it does say in the terms and conditions that they reserve the right to replace the item with one of the same value, or to send you a check for the value of the item. Like I said, I would have liked the phone, (becuase I wouldn't have had to decide if I should use the money to get the phone, or for something more useful like paying bills!) but I digress.

Basically, what I had to do to get to this point, was to just be persistent. For example, when I didn't get an answer through email or the first phone number (866-301-7260), I called the second number I saw here (866-379-8612). Originally I left a general voicemail but, when I didn't get an answer from that either, I started to get creative. I literally started dialing extensions until I got an actual human being. I was finally directed to "Will" in the fulfillment department who told me to fax over the confirmation of the Xoom transaction. He said that he would waive the usual US Mail verification, and complete the fulfillment manually. It took just about 4 weeks exactly, but I got the check today.

Did they fulfill their obligation? Yes. But I have SERIOUS reservations about this company and how they go about business. If I hadn't complained and been persistent, I would have been just another victim. It seems that they do the minimum to just stay legal. Their customer service is shameful, and their business practices are questionable at best. Sure, I made $450 from participating, but for the time and hassle it took to get it, I wouldn't do it again nor recommend it to anyone I even remotely like!

That being said, the customer service people at both Xoom and MetaReward (the third party company which reports fulfillment) have been excellent. Fast with responses, friendly, and professional.

Even though I kind of got what I signed up for (in a way), I still might lodge a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the local AG's office. I haven't decided yet.

If you plan to get involved with ANY of the programs run by TheUseful.com (CIP's parent company), just be aware of what you're getting into! Be persistent and keep VERY organized and throrough records!!

What if You Never Hear Back?

AUTHOR: Morgan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, March 24, 2005

I have fulfilled my 6 requirements to qualify for the ipod. Consumerincentivepromotions's website shows that I have qualified. But the same page says I am "in the process" of fulfilling the offers.

So I called the (866) 301-7260 listed on this site, and never received a call back. Can someone outline a way to actually get ahold of a real person? I need help!

Update on my CIP situation. my "gift" is apparently being processed and should be on its way

AUTHOR: Justin - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 23, 2005

Here's where my situation is right now: my "gift" is apparently being processed and should be on its way. That is what I was told by a representative in the fulfillment department. The status of my account on their webpage still says "Redemption Requirements Not Met", but I was assured that it is being manually processed. I'm a cynical person by nature, so I'll believe it when I see it! I'll update again if I get it, and I'll certainly update again if I don't!

THE T-SHIRT HAS LANDED!!

AUTHOR: Alexandrea - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 08, 2005

Hey! I had written a while ago about the $500.00 Visa Check Card, and I just wanted to let you know that I received a letter in the mail today from the company that said:
Thank you for your participation in our promotions. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we were unable to fulfill your gift through our regular sources. Enclosed is a check for the value of the gift you registered for. Please us the check to purchase the product you are due.

So, instead of the Visa Check Card, they sent me a check for $500.00. I can deal with that. Nothing like money, people. I had to go through some poo to get it, but it was worth it.
Rock on. Thank you consumerincentivepromotions.com or theuseful.com or whatever you want to call yourselves....

Xoom transaction with ConsumerIncentivePromotions

AUTHOR: Justin - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 01, 2005

Hi Tonia, interesting to hear that you had the same experience with Xoom. I had originally contacted Xoom's customer service through email. They also informed me that the minimum required transaction for credit with CIP was $100. After going back and forth a number of times between Xoom, CIP (of course with no responses), and MetaRewards, a third party company involved in the verification process, I decided to speak to someone in person. I spoke to "Matthew" at Xoom. He was very friendly and helpful. He actually told me that I completed my $25 transaction BEFORE they started the $100 minimum and that, not only was my transaction in fact completed, but that they have a record that they reported my completion. So, according to Xoom's records, I completed the requirement AND they reported it back in mid January!

To their credit, Matthew at Xoom and Luisa at MetaRewards have been extremely helpful and very prompt in their responses.

ConsumerIncentivePromotions is the only company involved in this process I have yet to hear back from. Again, I did leave a telephone message with them yesterday and, if they call me back, I will tell them this exact same thing. It seems to have worked for some of you, I hope I am able to resolve this situation as well. I'll keep you updated.

Same Situation-No credit for Xoom, they make this as difficult as possible so that people finally give up.

AUTHOR: Tonia - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 01, 2005

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that Xoom will not credit you as "confirmed" unless you made a $100 transaction or more.

I know on Consumerincentivepromotions website that they only say a "transaction" but when I contacted Xoom they were really rude and said too bad that they would not credit me and that it was "my problem".

When I contacted CIP they said that it had to be on Xoom's terms but CIP's was only "a transaction". This made no sense to me. I faxed the confirmation of my $25 transaction and Tina said it was approved. This was the only transaction that was causing me problems as well.

All I can say is keep being persistent and they should finally respond. I think they make this as difficult as possible so that people finally give up. Keep trying!!

Same situation.

AUTHOR: Justin - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 28, 2005

I am having the exact same situation that I have seen reported here with ConsumerIncentivePromotions and thought I would share my experience and update my progress (or lack thereof, depending on how it goes!).

I first signed up for ConsumerIncentivePromotions in mid-January for a "free" cell phone. I completed all of the requirements within three days (2 on page 1, 2 on page 2, and 2 on page 3). All were reported, if not immediately, within a day or two...except one, a money transfer with Xoom.com.

When I first went to the Xoom page from ConsumerIncentivePromotions the fulfillment instructions were to "complete a transaction to any country listed". So I sent $25 to a friend in England. So I had followed the instructions, and fulfilled the requirement. But it had been a few weeks, and still no report that I had fulfilled it.

I had tried contacting ConsumerIncentivePromotions a number of times through their online form and had never (even to this day) gotten a response. I had turned off all my spam filters just in case. I decided to go through Xoom to see if they had a record of my transaction. They said that they did, in fact, have a record of me completing the transaction and that they had reported it that week. But there is still no record on ConsumerIncentivePromotions (over a month later), of completing this transaction. This is the only, and final, unreported requirement before I qualify for my "free gift".

From the information I've found here, I've left a phone message for ConsumerIncentivePromotions. I'll keep you updated and let you know how I fare. Thanks for all the info here, glad to know I'm not the only one!

Don't give up yet, there is hope!! I GOT A DELL Laptop

AUTHOR: Tonia - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, February 25, 2005

Hi, I just wanted everyone to know that I was experiencing the same thing as everyone else. I made all of the purchases and they were not crediting to my account as being a confirmed purchase. I also emailed them numerous times with no response. After researching info here I found the number to Tina at customer service
1(866) 301-7260 and explained the situation. She asked that I fax over all confirmation emails from the sponsors to fax #(561) 981-5269. Tina was extremely helpful and very pleasant to work with. Tina said that she sent shipping info out and I should receive a laptop in 4-6 weeks. I actually received it in about 2 weeks. According to the offer I was supposed to receive a Sony Vaio but it was substituted for a Dell Inspiron 1000. It has a 30 gig HD, 256 megs of ram, Dvd/Cd-rw, Celeron(R)2.20Ghz CPU,windhows XP, with MS Money 2004, and wordperfect. The only thing I had to add was a wireless networking card that I already had. It works great!!!I love it and it was free!!! I made the required purchases among a couple of extra ones because I really wanted/needed the stuff. Just follow the directions and if there are problems be persistent-call, email and fax them and you should get your free gift. Good luck!!

Been There, Done That, Waiting for the T-Shirt....

AUTHOR: Alexandrea - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 24, 2005

I, too, fell victim to this "scam", but it was for a $500.00 Visa Check Card. I completed the 6 offers, but there was a glitch in their system, and it showed it under 2 listings for the same "gift", so even though I had completed the 6 offers, it wasn't showing it that way. It showed that I still had 2 left on one to complete and 4 left on the other.
I e-mailed the company and waited for a response. I did that for weeks, with no response, each time making the e-mails a bit more aggressive.
Finally, I contacted the Better Business Bureau, and was able to get a phone number for them and left a voice mail explaining my problem, and stating I was contacting the BBB and would seek legal council if their poor excuse for a company would not return my call to fix their computer error to fulfill their contractual obligation to me, considering I had done everything that was stated in their terms and conditions listed on their website and was due to receive the said "gift", as promised. Plus, I was quite aggitated at their lack of concern for my requests that had been e-mailed repeatedly over the last few weeks.
Well, the very next day, I received a phone call from the company. The representative explained that they had received my voicemail and they were very sorry for the mix up and that they had looked over my account, saw the glitch and that they would wave the voucher that I had to fill out to send in to them in order to verify my address to complete the process. They would send me an e-mail confirming that and they would process my account to ship out my gift within the next few weeks. So, I said thank you and hung up. I went and checked my e-mail about 30 minutes later and sure enough I had an e-mail from them.
It remains to be seen if I actually receive the gift card....But I will definitely keep you posted. I think this company just has a VERY bad track record and VERY bad customer service.

Thanks

Laptop

AUTHOR: James - (United States Minor Outlying Islands)

POSTED: Thursday, February 17, 2005

Hello,
I've posted once before, saying that I too was somewhat skeptical, but I was hoping that I got my laptop. I've just received my laptop in the mail from a company called "crazy products" or something like that. So it's not a scam. It seems that the people who are having problems may have done something wrong, consumerincentivepromotions just doesn't keep records well, or that the companies who are supposed to report back to consumerincentivepromotions just haven't done that. Who knows?

I wish you all luck with consumerincentivepromotions thing.

consumerincentivepromotions

AUTHOR: James - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 20, 2005

I generally don't respond to spam, but I read the terms and conditions and how it works and it all sounds legit. It seems to me that the companies that you chose didn't respond back to consumerincentivepromotions yet letting them know that you've completed the terms of the agreement to get the free laptop. It's been 3 weeks since I did the 6 offers, and there was one company (a vitamin company) that didn't send back confirmation until today. The others were pretty quick (less than a week). Upon that company's confirmation, I was directed to a voucher (after I typed in my email address to check if all offers had been completed) and the voucher needs to be mailed to a department at that address in Florida, then they will (or say they will) send my laptop. There is one important thing that they mention on the voucher page, though. They say that they reserve the right to send a substitute gift having similar function to the laptop, or send a check for the value of the laptop, if they can't ship the laptop. So If I don't get the laptop, I'm hoping I'll get the check so that I can put it towards a better machine. So, I guess I'll see if it comes or not in about 4 weeks.
