I saw an ad for free credit report online or by mail, and thought it was just that. So i tried it. They asked for personal info.
wanted me to give them info for requesting report frm agency's--ssi#,etc
Don't know if gave all info, but did not request service other than that report. They wanted a separate item to be charged if wanted score; plus they would issue membership items or send mailings if preferred. I read my report and did not see anything about being charged just for that free one.
I now have been charged $79.95 on my Capital...card and hit with fee of$29 for being over limit! I haven't been over in awhile and I was doing alot better since disaster in my checking back in 2001.I feel abused; angry; and offended they would be so sneaky about it.I am only one I know,as now I see there have been many who are in the same boat.Some, with no recourse.I have notified my Card Company and have to call back after holiday.It's been 3wks or so since i did report and hope i can get this fixed, so it doesnt set my account back 3 years! They have scammed to many of us, and we don't want to take this insult lying down.
