I was called by Coastal Biodiesel about what I was doing with my cooking oil.  At the time I was letting a company collect it for free.  They told me they would pay me and use the oil to make Biodiesel.  After my rebate checks for the oil were not adding up right I started doing some investigating.  Not only was I getting screwed out of my oil but as it turns out they don't even make biodiesel.  They don't even have a plant!  So I called some of the Biodiesel plants in SC, turns out there is only 2 in opperation.

First I called our local Biodiesel plant Southeast Biodiesel and they said they don't get any waste cooking oil from Costal Biodiesel.  Then I called a company out of Columbia and they said the same.  So where is all my oil going.  Both companies couldn't tell me what Coastal is doing with my oil but both assured me it wasn't being used by them and that they do not do business with them.  I have since canceled my account and have another company collect it now.  They collect it and make fuel with it and sell it in SC.  I don't get paid but I also know my oil is going to good use instead of....who knows where?

Where's the "cents"??

AUTHOR: D Loveless - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, March 28, 2011

First this person wasnt getting paid for his oil so he makes a "deal" to collect money for his oil. So How is that getting "screwed" out of your oil? You DID recieve monies for a product you were giving away, so you WERE proffitting. As far as what THEY were doing with your oil, I'm sure they were selling at a higher rate to someone who actually produces biodiesel. Common sense says they definately arent going to pay you so they can dump it on the ground. Why not call Coastal Biodiesel and ask them where they sell their oil? That might give you information on "cutting out the middle man"... Many buisinesses do the same thing. I was hoping to hear a good rip off story from someone, but this article makes no sense to me. I am an employee of Coastal's competition and would have liked to laugh at them, but instead, I'm laughing at the guy who has no "cents"..
