I am a resident of Biloxi, Licensed Mortgage Broker and I too lost my home in the storm. I have been reading the compliant from Moss Point as well as listening to many other people in the Biloxi Area. To cash these checks they must be endorsed by a Countrywide Office or employee. DO NOT send them to California. Take them to your local office. There is one on 520 E. Pass Road in Gulfport and another in Hattiesburg on Old Hwy 11. These people that work in these offices are good, sympathic individuals that can help you get these checks endorsed. They will stamp them with a Countrywide logo and this will be fine for deposit. The workers in CA have been trained to keep the checks and do not care or have any idea what is happening in South Mississippi. The people in these offices are your neigbhors and will help if they can. I can not tell you to do anything that may not be within the law, but many of the banks will not even check the endorsements and you can take your chances and play ignorant. If you send them to CA you will never see them again, it would be better to hold them and file a complaint with Dept of Insurance in Jackson. Good Luck
