I have been with Credit Acceptance for three years, and I REGRET it.I have been experiencing the same things that other customers have as well. But! There are other things going on as well. When one representative calls and says one thing, another one calls right behind the first one and says something totally different. So when I say I was told differently,I'm always getting told that I was told the wrong information.I lost my job due to my position getting eliminated last year.I called CA and explained my situation, and the representative told me that since being that I can't make my payments on time, I should voluntary turn my vehicle in to them.I still had another income even though I lost my job.I make arrangements, and I always meet them. When I'm mailing my payments on the date of the arrangement made, they will call until they get it in the office.I asked the post office how many days does it take to get to Detroit,Mi and was told four days.I let CA know that it was going to take four days for them to receive my payment in the mail, and the representative got an attitude with me and said that the post office told me a lie-it takes ten days for us to receive it in the mail WOW!!!! I don't think that the post office would lie.I've even spoke to a rep that once told me that my car payment should come before any other bills(lights, water, gas,) including feeding my children. Now that is low!!!! And I most definitely think that something should be done about this company.THE REPRESENTATIVES AT CREDIT ACCEPTANCE ARE NOT PROFESSIONAL,THEY HARASS AND CALL ALL DAY,EVERYDAY!!!!!

first of all, this is my first time buying a vehicle, and I was not aware of how financing goes. I could have used my bank. But like I said I did not know.Just like I said everyone's credit isn't bad for the fact that at the same that time I got my vehicle,I got a loan from my bank.

Is That A Fact!

Interesting points to ponder...
1. The dealer's goal is to sell cars. The dealer realizes a "deal breaker" could be a high payment. High interest rates can cause a high payment. Therefore, it is the dealer's advantage to use a bank to finance a customer with good credit rather than a subprime lender. The reason the dealer didn't use a bank in your case is because you are a sub-prime borrower.
2. A customer with good credit would have seen the contract APR with CAC is very high. That same customer with good credit would have NOT signed it and would have arranged their own financing at a bank and then bought the car if the dealer didn't use a bank as explained in point 1 above.
3. You disclosed you have been with CAC for THREE YEARS. If you had good credit, you would have done a refi with a bank at the start of this contract rather than pay THREE YEARS of high interest with a sub-prime lender. In that instance, you would have been done with CAC and all this would be a moot point. You didn't do this because you cannot qualify for a bank loan.
It is intersting to note, whenever a rebuttle hits the nail directly and squarely on the head, the original poster suddenly comes up with all these "new" details such as how they are not subprime or there's suddenly these "extenuating circumstances", because you don't like what the rebuttle said.

The reason why I'm financed through CAC is because the car dealer use CAC to finance their cars. You don't get it!! Who are you to tell me to get off my a--.So you know, I have a disability. So my suggestion to you is to watch what you say especially when you don't know a person's situation,it could happen to you.

Next time, there won't be a next time with CA. I will never yell at myself for making a mistake,a big one if you really want to know. As far as down payments, I put down what was asked on the vehicle. The vehicles I have are nice and dependable. Oh yes CA reps do "harrass," and as far as being in business for 38 years,CA has a lot of "bad" reports, and that doesn't look good for a company. As far as meeting quality standards,I don't see how because CA has a lot of bad reports and most of them relate. Let me inform you of something, some people don't have to go through CA because they have to,or their credit isn't so good,it is because of who the car dealers use to finance their cars,on which CA was the financing company where I purchased my vehicle.

Sub Prime Thinking On and On
AUTHOR: Jim - (USA)

The reason any of you need to be financed by a sub prime lender is because you have a DEMONSTRATED TRACK RECORD of NOT paying your bills on time. And now that you are with CAC, surprise, surprise that reputation lives on! You STILL don't get it! If you don't have enough money to make the payment, then you get up off your a-- and get another job, full or part time to increase your income. If you are married and only one spouse works, then the other spouse gets a job when the other is home!
"Customer Service" is NOT defined as "we will let you slide"! CAC or any other lender is under ZERO obligation to "work with you" or "help" you. When you go to the store, do you slip the cashier an extra 20 to "help" them? CAC or any lender is NOT a charity. If you want charity, then ask the Red Cross to finance you. CAC is NOT your financial advisor.
When you loose a job, you get another. Don't tell me this crap "there are no jobs". You do what you need to do to meet your obligations.
Any of you sub prime thinkers can turn off the collections efforts. All you need is pay on time. CAC will never call you! But as we have seen over and over, the motto of sub prime thinkers is "its everybodies fault but mine".

Next time, pay cash for a vehicle and then you can only yell at yourself, based on how much some people put down as downpayments on the loans, you could have a nice enough dependable vehicle to get around in. You aren't being "harrassed" we've been in business 38 years and if we are sooooo wrong in what we do, we would have been out of business a long time ago. maybe this debt given your situation was just too much of a burden to handle, it happens. By the way, calls are audited daily and feedback is given to supervisors, if a rep is not meeting quality standards, they would be fired. That means if they aren't being professional to customers, they are in t-r-o-u-b-l-e! We give serveral options to get payments on time on loans, if you choose the least dependable and slowest way to pay your account, dont blame us, we constanting tell everyone our expectations like it or not. Yes your car payment is 2nd behind rent or mortgage.

Oh yes!!! Customers are ALWAYS right. Regardless of whatever the situation may be I don't think that customers should be handled, and talked to any kind of way. Credit Acceptance reps "always" tell customers what the contract says about the vehicle, but I don't see it in the contract where it states that the reps are suppose to harass the customers.

Every time I make arrangements,I specifically tell the representative that I will be mailing my payment on a certain date, and whomever I'm telling it to,he/she tells me that they are putting the arrangement on my account. If I need to make any arrangements,I make them way before my due date.I have never heard any representative say that I need to make my payment on time to build my credit,I always hear that my vehicle can be repossessed if the payments are not made on time.Besides,no matter what the circumstances are it still does not give Credit Acceptance the right to harass the customers.Customers are always right.

if you make a payment arrangement, its scheduled for the time frame set by the collector. For example, mailed payment are allowed 7 business days to arrive and post from the date it indicated its sent out. The purpose of the company to help consumers rebuild their credit by stressing the need to pay by their due dates. We use autodialers to call consumers and it may seem we call alot but most of the time the consumer doesn't return our calls timely and they should know our policy of expecting a payment by someone's due date, if you 1 day late, your called unless you set an arrangement up.
