One afternoon on June 5th, 2009 a young lady named Nicole appears on my front doorstep. She says she is from Colorado. The girl mentions she is having a competition (girls VS. boys) through a college program to win a trip to Cancun, Mexico by selling magazine subscriptions.

She is really friendly and talkative and she seemed like she was a nice girl by all means. She loved my pregnant belly (and in fact I was due that very day). We talked about 15-20 minutes and then she finally starting getting into her sales pitch and shoot, why not? I used to love getting magazine subscriptions so I asked my boyfriend if it was OK and so it went downhill from there.

She showed my the list of magazines I could choose from, and I guess I should have thought twice. Would anyone legit actually show you a crumbled, cheesy looking list of magazine you could choose from. It was totally un-professional by all means. I chose Family Fun, and she told me it was $40.00 for the subscription but there was some sort of a deal where I got it for $30.00. I thought "OK this is cool!"

We didn't have any cash on us and she said if I drove her to the ATM machine she would get extra points for talking us into the extra effort. As we were going to head to the ATM machine she asked to use our cell phone to call the people she was going from town to town with. Then about a minute later they drive right by our house.

So I drove to the bank with her, and walked in and out of the bank and gave her the money and she quickly filled out the receipt. I drove us back to my house and she asked to use our bathroom and she soon left and I was left with this receipt.

I quickly started to notice a few problems with the receipt I had obtained from her.

1. She put down my name and address, but failed to include my zip-code which worried me.
2. there is line from the receipt which states "We are no affiliated with any local High School or College." Strange because the trip she was getting was supposedly through a college program.

Also she said I'd get my magazines within 6 weeks. Six weeks came and went and there were no magazines. I looked at the receipt again and it said allow 90-120 days for delivery. It has been barely 3 months, so could there be a chance I might get my magazines? I doubt it. It should not take 4 months to get magazines.

We have called the company a few times over the past couple of weeks and the first time we left a message that was un-returned. The second time we got someone and they took down my email address and said they were going to email me about it (which I thought was strange.)

Truth is, is I got ripped off. I will never buy from a door to door sales person ever again.

I want people to know what these people do. They try to befriend you, and get you to buy the magazine through friendliness. I just shake my head and can't believe someone would do that to me knowing that the money I gave to her could have been used for my baby.

If a door to door sales person tries to sell you any magazines just shut the door.

Finally got a magazine, but not the right one!

AUTHOR: Cimmette - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, January 25, 2010

Finally about October or November I started recieving magazines.... the wrong one!!! I ordered Family Fun and they are sending me Motor Cyclist! I'm not even interested in motor cycles!! I keep calling them to get this fixed... once in December of 09 and I left a message with all my info and no one called back. Today I called them up and left a message and then I decided to call back to see if anyone would pick up and they did. They claimed to be having "problems" with their phone system and she took my name and number to "call me back". Well it's 7pm now in Texas and I seriously doubt anyone is calling me back!
