I am writing this not to bash ctu online or aiu online. I am writing this to warn single mothers, and everyone else who may be thinking that this is a way out of your current situation. Please be wise in your choice of schools. Online education is tricky, and among online education options, ctu and aiu can be even trickier.

I used to work at ctu online, and I was not in the volatile admissions department. I am not jaded or angry,I just want people to understand what this is all about.

CTU online and AIU online are right for some people. But please understand that it's not right for a lot of people. Whoever you are, you are an enrollment for an admissions advisor. The admissions advisors' job depends upon whether or not you enroll. So whether or not you're right for the school or it's right from you, they will do everything in their power to enroll you. They will call you repeatedly and leave you rude messages if that's what it takes. It's the only way they can keep their jobs. Advisors are sales people, most of them without degrees. Most have not attended college. That's not to discredit the person, but these are not admission advocates, they are sales people.

CTU and AIU are regionally accredited. I used to work in academics at the school. But I am just warning you to weigh the value of a ctu online or aiu online degree. If you are hoping that everyone will respect the degree, they won't. But perhaps having a bachelors degree in general will improve your job prospects. Long story short, please just be careful. do your research. This could be a great way for you to complete your degree. But don't expect your admissions advisor to have your best interest at heart. Good luck!

You Get what you give..from CTU or anything else (((several links)))

AUTHOR: Wayne - (U.S.A.)

Here is the fruit of my research concerning CTU Online and their accreditation: Go to these links and see what you find.

state.co.us/cche/colleges/authnonpubs.htm

state.co.us/cche/colleges/nonpubs.html Click on the link:

Accredited Private Institutions Authorized to Operate in Colorado

Click on Authorized Nonpublic Institutions from:
state.co.us/cche/colleges/index.html

These were reached by doing a google search for Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
This took me to: chea.org/degreemills/frmStates.htm

Or the Department of Education web site

ope.ed.gov/accreditation/InstList.asp, and do a search for Colorado, you will discover that Colorado Technical University has two listings ( from a search done on 8/24/2007)

I did a Google search to be sure that the sites themselves weren't bogus

Below is a copy of the page from the CTU website that shows their accreditation. If you follow any of the links they take you to the same web governmental websites as the Google Search.

Sorry internet school bashers...CTU is accredited...

My response to the whiners at this sight, who have nothing to do but whine and complain about how they couldn't cut it at CTU, is plain and simpleShut UP!

...and btw, I don't work for CTU, but I graduated from there last June, I worked hard to get my degree, I have attended brick and mortar school before (and did quite well) at TEMPLE U in philadelphia, I went to CTU with about 80 credits, all of my previous class work transferred, adn I worked very hard, I am in the process of allpying to MBA programs..and NOBODY HAS QUESTIONED CTU's ACCREDITATION!

I had no problems with my financial aid, because I know how to ask the right questions to get the right answers.

If you want to check me out I'll email you my personal info
Yes, since graduation last month I have found that it's tough to get a job in my field, DUH! Again to all of you out there in internet land who thing this stuff is easyGROW UP!

And to the person who wrote in here with a complaint about owing money after attending class for ONE MONTH! you're a moron, any brick and mortar school you went to would do the same thingyou obviously lack the savvy to succeed at ANYTHING!.....

Sorry, I rarely loose my temper, but this is just ridiculous, the person who runs this site should try and check out these stories BEFORE he publishes them.

It is like anything you purchase. "Buyer beware"

POSTED: Tuesday, August 21, 2007

I have just completed my degree at CTU in Business with a concentration in Information systems. I did my first two years at a regular brick and mortar college. Obviously the two types of programs are diffrent because one you acualy are in a classroom and the other is virtual. Int saying that though I feel I got just as much out of the final two years as I did the first two.

I have read all the problems with the admissions advisors having quotas well that is what for profit businesses do, I mean if you worked for any company that was invilved in sales you would have certain quotas to meet or you would be fired.

I am a big boy and can certainly tell when I am getting the hard sell and if you don't want to listen or enroll in these school there is one simple avenue for you, "Hang Up the F***** Phone". This will terminate the sales pitch and you can move on.

I am not saying that these schools don't have the problems I did have some problems with CTU but most off them were adminastrative and nothing to do with the actual academics. I am in a wheelchair and have medical problems that caused me to have to withdraw and reapply to the school a few times I think they need a better system for being able to just withdraw from a individual class instead of the whole school.

That being said this is not a huge problem and I have nothing bad to say about the actual class work, as I said earlier I don't feel there was much of a diffrence between what I got out of the first two years and the final two that I finished at CTU. I can't speak for AIU or anything they do cause I only dealt with CTU I know that AIU is there parent company but I do think CTU is much diffrent. It does have a actual brick and mortar campus in Collorado so it is as legit as any other college.

Do I feel my degree is worth the time and effort that I expended on it your d**n right I do. I fought very hard for the grades I got and the degree I ended up with and I think CTU is worth it for many people who work or can't go to an actual campus very well like me or those who are in the military. These types of online school are a great resouce for us and I do agree with whoever said that " you get out of it whatever you put into it", and that would go for any school even a school like Texas A&M ( I used this school as an example because it was used before).

I saw earlier people mentioned cheating, well if you don't think there is as much cheating at regual colleges you are not being realistic.

In closing I just would ike to say I think some of the anger that we have seen on this page is that the people that finished the degrees at a school like CTU do feel they have a degree that is as valuable as if they attended at brick and mortar college.

I know that the way these colleges do business is diffrent then others but if you know this going in and can deal with the hard sell ( i mean it was not a hard sell for me cause I knew I wanted to attend anyways) and just be informed that they do have problems but the academics part is just as good as anyother university. I do think there administrative side needs work but I am very proud to say I got my degree at CTU and I have no problems putting it up against anyother college or university.

Well I guess that was my two cents.

If you're 55, I can understand the concerns of an online degree. However, There is no distinction made on the degree. Your degree is awarded based on competency and successfully meeting academic requirements, not upon geographic location or residency.

AIU and CTU have brick and mortar campuses and AIU is the top choice for many military bases and fortune 500 companies. How do I know? I worked 15 years at a fortune 500 company and they insisted I finish my schooling at AIU.

After I was done I was so happy that I applied for work there. Now, I wish I would have stayed at GM because I hate how the advisors are treated.

That being said it's still a good SCHOOL. The company may suck but the SCHOOL is perfect for people with familes and jobs who can't wait 5,6,7 years to finish school

Your half right

A college degree is not the magical solution to all of lifes problems. If you think by attending college you are suddenly going to get that dream job, make more money, or better your situation you are wrong. A degree does not entitlte you to a better life. If you are motivated, hard working, and dedicated a degree will help open doors that have been shut because you lack the education required for the job.

As far as employers not recognizing or accepting your degree; take a look at the corporate education partner list of the school. It includes Microsoft, AT&T, Verizon and numerous fortune 500 companies. These corporations have reviewed our university and determined that their employees will benefit from the education they get here. As with any school your degree is what you make of it.
