I was referred to Courtney's services through a friend for my wedding. We started our email and text correspondences back on August 14th. In the beginning, so was very pleasant to deal with and had very speedy responses. I told her about my wedding on September 28th and that I had a bridal party of 3 that would also need styling. She asked very detailed questions and requested pictures for what style I was trying to accomplish and seemed very interested in obtaining my business.

I followed up with Courtney on August 16th to request a final quote for myself and my bridal party. She told me the total cost for my sew in and updo was $340. I asked for a September 25th appointment along with quotes for my bridesmaids and travel fees if she came out to the hotel the day of the wedding. We discussed timeframes and styling options as well. Again, she seemed very interested in obtaining my business.

After corresponding via text, I asked her if she would require a deposit and she responded yes. She initially quoted me $50. Then when she emailed me about the invoice details, she mentioned the deposit would be $75. When she emailed me the link for the deposit it was $95. I did mention to her that this was not what we discussed, but I went ahead and paid it because eventually I was agreeing to pay her a total amount of $340 for my total hair package.

After my deposit was paid we went for some time with no correspondence. I did request that she send me a break down in the total price she quoted me for because I wanted to she how much she was charging for my bundles of hair, etc. She never did send me an official contract to sign with a detailed breakdown of her services.

She reached out again around September 11th to confirm we are all onboard. She sent me an incorrect invoice for all the ladies' services in response to the request for a detailed contract. I cancelled the invoice out and remindied her that we discussed that all my ladies were paying for their services separately.

I also noticed that day that my total invoice went up $20. I text her and was like why have my services increased $20. She told me that was for the day of services to put my hair in the bun I wanted for the wedding. Then when I read her breakdown, she quoted me $190 for two bundles of hair. She didn't specify whether it was Brazilian, Peruvian, etc. I know on average a bundle of hair ranges between $60-70 maximum. I told her that price was unacceptable and I would bring my own instead. She said I can do whatever I like and that she would charge me and extra $25 to bring my own product.

I was absolutely floored. I text my friend who gave her the referral and asked if she charged her these rates and she said no. Courtney allowed her to bring her own hair and charged her $150 for the sew in. I immediately challenged Courtney and asked why was she charging me more. She stated that she recently changed her policy and that this was new. I searched her website to see where it was posted and it wasn't.

Her final invoice to me also had some interesting clauses that were never mentioned either. She never once communicated that her deposit was non-refundable. She never stated all these extra fees. So 12 days before my wedding, I told her I would no longer be needing her services. She refused to give me back my deposit stating in her second invoice she NOW said it's non-refundable.

Luckily, after explaining to PayPal what happened, they refunded my $95. I am spreading this around to as many online venues as possible. DO NOT use this woman for your services. Do not entrust her wth special occassions. She is greedy, manipulative, and not forthcoming with important details.

Constant Budget Changes

AUTHOR: Custom Hair Couture - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, January 29, 2016

When the Bride and I first spoke, we agreed that I would provide services for her and the entire bridal party. I booked this event because of the volume, due to the fact that I would be flying from Los Angeles to Atlanta particularly for this event. As the wedding date got closer, the bride started asking for less and less services. I really feel as though her budget may have gotten tighter closer to the wedding. We had a converstation about 2 weeks prior to the wedding, were I was basically told that the original agreement we made would change completely, So the pricing changed. The bride tried to dispute the deposit, but I won the dispute with PayPal because my policy was clearly stated in the invoice.
