I dropped my vehicle (1998 Jeep Cherokee Classic) at Dave's Auto Service INC in Centerville on Saturday (9/7/08) and put my keys in the drop box. On Monday Dave called me letting me know that I would need a new radiator to proceed. I agreed and told him I would call back later in the day with a deposit.

I came down to the shop in person to talk with Dave. After waiting in the lobby for an upwards of 45 minutes, Dave approached me and we went to look at the car. I decided that I would let him know the next morning whether or not to proceed, and exited to my car.

After getting in the car that I had drove to the shop (different car than the one being repaired) Dave came out screaming at me, and asked me what I was doing. I stated that I was driving home. He reached into my car (also a Jeep, but much older and of different color) and pulled out the keys. He proceeded to walk into his store and tell me he was going to call the cops.

It took at least 5 minutes to repeatedly explain that this Jeep was a different one, and not the one he was repairing. After he finally had one of his associates check on the Jeep in the back, he released the keys to me.

Never have I met such an individual with such a temper in a business. After asking him whether or not my problem may be a head gasket, and what a head gasket would cost, he refused to even give an estimate. Any mechanic I've ever been to has at least given me the courtesy of looking up the pricing for a head gasket replacement -- but Dave refused to do so simply because he couldn't give an estimate off the top of his head (which wasn't what I was asking for.)

His rude manner in which he treated me was upsetting, and the fact that his paranoia compelled him to reach into my personal vehicle (which is not under any mechanics lean for Dave's Automotive) is not only rude, but an act of assault. Entering someone's vehicle without the consent of the owner is not something that an employee (much less, business OWNER) of a repair shop should be doing.

Dave has been one of the most difficult people I've had to deal with in the area of customer service. I'm extremely dissatisfied, and want Dave to know that should he continue to be so rude to his customers - he wont be in business any longer.

I soooo agree!

My father was the reason I heard about dave's. He told me some crazy stuff that happened there, to him with his Audi. Of course I didn't believe him, so stupid me, brought my car to that place.

I had a horrible experience as well. I didn't know by leaving my car there, someone would put a dent in it and not tell me! (NO Decency or Integrity)  Also, they didn't fix my car right and it stalled on my partner and I at least 4 times and once, while turning into on coming traffic!! SCARY!!

Sorry Dad for not listening to you and giving someone a chance! Never again! My car is having problems now because of that place and now I have to bring it to the dealership to fix it. It sucks that I have to pay for their mistakes!!!

My Friend said I should write my experience on every website, so I am. I hope if people pick dave's service place, that they don't have the problems I did. It was very inconvenient and not a good experience!

Seriously? No don't take it seriously at all

I couldn't help myself but to rebut this claim. While Googling for Dave's official website, I came across some sites with complaints posted, and of course I was interested to see what it was all about. Then after reading this post, I researched some more and also found this same post (word for word) with a "different" person's name attached as the author on another complaint website.  I also found it fascinating how the additional comments to the original posting (by supposed unhappy consumers) have very similar style of writing as the original author of the post, which leads me to believe that the story sounds a bit much.
I happen to be a Dave's Complete Auto Service fan, and they are my go-to place when I have a question about my car, or if I actually need their help in fixing it.  I don't know the owner Dave super well, but I do know that his shop gives good service and I've seen Dave at a couple of my visits there (at the Centerville location) and never witnessed him being rude, and I've never experienced him being dishonest. And giving a quote didn't seem to be a big deal at all there.
It's sad to find fictitious claims regarding a "small business" -Dave's is well-known but we're not exactly talking about Wal-Mart here. It's attacking an individual not his company, which lies done so publicly, trying to smear a person's reputation is malicious and this author is lucky Dave doesn't file a lawsuit against them for defamation of character.
My suggestion is to check out Dave's Complete Auto Service yourself and not rely on others to make your decision.

Dave is a lunatic and a true maniac, stay away from this idiot

I took an Audi Quattro I owned to Dave and I also experienced his wrath. Let me tell you, he the most arrogant piece of trash I have ever dealt with in the auto repair field or pretty much any other field. He got all upset and acted like he was on drugs when he was in my presence. He actually charged me for an estimate then I had to pay about $80 to put oil put back in the all wheel drive. I then had the car towed to another repair shop that was about $1000 cheaper for the same repair. Stay away from Daves Foreign Repair, he's a rip off and a lunatic.

You know very well that this isn't an "ex-employee", you even called me and offered to "make things right."

Like you, I save my messages and phone calls. I will release this message to anyone who emails me and asks me for it: syntaxnixon@gmail.com

If you want to hear Dave Bell whine like a baby after finding out someone has written things about him online, email me and I'll send you his voicemail. Hilarious.

NOT TRUE

AUTHOR: Dave B - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, December 08, 2008

This report is not true. The story that has been made up here I believe is from a former employee who was here for about 3 months. He had some serious mental issues that were discovered after we hired him. When we let him go he swore he would try and ruin our 20 plus year reputation, and it appears that he is trying to keep his word.
