We originally scheduled a move for Saturday or the following day, Sunday. A company that we had never heard of, Best Price Moving, called on Friday to re-schedule. The movers showed up on Monday at 8:30pm when they were originally scheduled to arrive at 5pm. Upon their arrival, they showed my husband a bill of lading that listed a fuel charge not previously shown on the order for service. Because of the delay in dates and the late hour, we felt that we had no choice but to go through with the move. Needless to say, no one at the company was available to speak to us that evening. Although all the boxes had already been packed, they were ready to go at 12:30am but only after my husband decided to chip in.

The movers called on July 15 to say that they would be unable to deliver that day as had previously been agreed upon. They refused to come two days later. They gave us 24 hours notice and insisted on delivery on a day we couldn't be home. On the day of delivery, keys for the apt were left with the doorman which the truck driver stated was commonplace. Once the items were delivered, the movers called saying that the doorman wouldn't take the keys back. Rather than attempt a responsible solution (my husband and told them he would be home at 5:30pm), they decided to leave the keys by a street sign outdoors at 5pm. When we arrived home, we found that the covers to the mattress and box spring were completely shredded; three legs of a desk were broken off; and multiple boxes and their contents had sustained terrible water damage.

Since then we have spent hours writing emails and making phone calls referencing their "no hidden cost policy". The order for service which listed "N/A" next to fuel charge clearly does not match the bill of lading which added an 8% surcharge. Despite the fact that this is a clear violation of the "Movers Rights" listed on their website, their initial response was that we should be happy that we weren't charged a 16% surcharge.

Finally, Delta Van Lines has refused numerous written and spoken requests for contact information for their attorney and for the name/number of a supervisor ("That would be xxx, but he won't return phone calls from customers").
