The company advertises a "box" of checks for $21.
The only thing that you get for $21 is three packs of checks and not a complete "box" as advertised.
They actually send a useless box to store the checks, if you can believe that!! What a waste of cardboard and paper!!!!!
The SunTrust Bank doesn't contact the consumer and says they have a "new" company to supply the checks, but doesn't contact the client about the "new" company. So, after you pay, $21, for 3 packs,
the SunTrust bank will do nothing to make the order complete with a " box" as advertised.
Both companies (Deluxe.com and SunTrust Bank) are a fraud. They False Advertise, steal your $21, don't inform the consumer, refuse service and rip you off.
Let it be known that is what is going at SunTrust Bank and this Deluxe.com their supplier of checks.
What a RIPOFF!!!!!!

Get cheaper checks

Never buy checks from a bank. I have been banking for 20 years. All my checks get ordered on the cheap.
Get the Sunday paper and look in the coupon section. You'll find companies like Checks Unlimited.
You get boxes of checks super cheap.
Using a bank for checks is the most expensive way to go

Reasonable explanation

Being in the financial industry I can give you some insight on this:
1. Having the package come in a flatter package saves on postage and handling.
2. It also is generally more secure since it does not resemble the typical "box of checks" that are so frequently stolen from mailboxes because of their tell-tale shape/size.
3. There IS a flat cardboard carton included in your package that you can pop up into a box (although I do understand your frustration since it's not the quality of the boxes you're used to.)
4. Since Deluxe has a printing contract with your bank (SunTrust) and is not a part of the company - your bank does not "advertise" the checks. They state that if you would like to order your checks thru the bank's system that Deluxe will be the company that supplies them. You are not required to place any orders thru Deluxe - there are many other check printing companies available. You would just need to provide your account information to the companies yourself. Your bank would not be able to order checks on your behalf to a company in which they do not have a contract. Banks do not profit much (if at all) from check orders or from the contracts banks have with the printing companies.
5. Really, is not receiving a "box" that important to report your bank on this site for "false advertising"?
I hope this helps shed some light on the facts.
