My wife and I had numerous agreements by email as well as accepting two offers from and with owner, Sheldon Graber, to purchase a 15 x 50 2006 house boat. As stated we accepted these two offers conditionally in good faith from owner-Destination Yachts to purchase said house boat. This house boat was taken in on trade and located in Kentucky. A 10 hr travel time which included lodging/food expense to visit this boat. Once viewed, further agreements were made by email and loan was secured and approved.
Time away from work/loss of investment income due to fund gathering for purchase as well as getting downpayment in order per Mr Gaber's request took place. Original agreement was to take in our house boat on trade. When Mr Graber was pressed to proceed, he emailed me saying the following, " I have a private invester that puts his money in the trades. We have a boat that is about done on the line and he has the trade covered on that boat. He is at the max of what he wants to put out at this time. As we were trying to put this deal together I was unaware that this was an issue...without that money I will not be able to cover your trade in". The next day after my concerns were expressed of all our expenses and wasted time as we were misled, I received the following email, "Have spoke with two other people and have not had any luck. I will continue to look into...I also have someone looking at the other trade in that my invester has his money in but dont know any time lines." That was last communication we received.
Our problem was that we were misled and strung along for it appeared the president of his own company was not familiar with his own cash flow issues.
I later discovered that Mr Graber had a cash sale for the 2006 house boat and he continued to move with this other purchaser and sold the boat out from under us with no other communication.
I questioned Mr Graber reneging on his deals but he never responded.
The company's mission statement is "PROVIDE EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE WHILE MAINTAINING INTEGRITY IN ALL BUSINESS PRACTICES"

Be weary of desperation

BBB has file and said all would be retained for future complaints, however, since funds were spent this issue was a civil case and they (bbb) could not be involved to collect damages. Local attorney's in company's state verified it was a civil matter for collection. As I was reminded by some of the saying "buyer beware".

BBB for this area has file, since funds were spent & lost due to company owner reniging on his offers, it became a civil action as per BBB and local attorney's in company's local area. Company owner knows what he did and said. Customers as the saying goes "Buyer Beware"

Owner's response is misleading

All information that was submitted is true and accurate. All inforation is documented as also recorded with BBB with copies of emails. Emails are accessible for all to review. The original complaint still stands as owner never to this day has responded or even cared to respond. Quite the contradiction of service that was represented to us.
