Direct Exteriors Direct Exteriors Colorado Takes Money and Then Doesn't Answer the Phone Maple Grove, Minnesota

In August we contracted Direct Exteriors to redo our roof. A rep from Direct Exteriors came by our house and showed us the information on the company and we did our research. The company appeared to be a good company. Part of the contract was signing over our insurance check to the company and they even went as far as to get our mortgage company to co-endorse. Everything was great and we were set to do the roof in Novememebr of 2010. On Nov. 10th, the day before we were shceduled, I recieved a call from Direct Exterior saying they couldn't do it that day. I waited a week to call back and see when they would reschedule. Starting Nov.17th I called and left messages with no return. Starting after Thanksgiving I started to try other numbers and managers and so forth. There was no response and not even a secretary to answer the phone.

I then contacted the agent that came and sold us on using Direct Exterior and learned that the company had closed it's doors in Colorado. There is a lot of rumor of embezzlement and crime going on. What I do know for fact is I gave Direct Exterior $5000 of insurance money and they have done no work on my roof, I can not get ahold of them, and I can not even reach the owner of the company (Mike McAlpin).

Ihave never been the victim of fraud before. We have since turned them into the BBB and the Attorney General of CO. Our local police department gave us a form to fill out for fraud, and we will fill this out as well. I wish I knew what steps to take next, but I am unsure. The main reason for posting this is incase there is someone else out there that is still uncertain about Direct Exterior. They arenot a viable company anymore, anddon't stand still. Persue action against them!
