I went to DirectBuy and fell for the high pressure sales pitch. The cost was around $5,000.00 plus a yearly fee.
PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR SALES PITCH YOURSELF. Save your
$5,000.00
I have since figured out that I would have to buy about $50,000.00 of merchandise to make up my $5,000.00 membership fee. in my opinion.
Their sales pitch is that you pay what other retailers pay, which is not true. You see they get 8% on what you purchase on almost everything that you buy there. Plus shipping and handling. Plus if you do not like what you purchased you cannot return it to DirectBuy as with a reputable retailer. Retailer don't make much more plus add Shipping and Handling and you are at retail price in most cases. I priced DirectBuy member prices with Home Depot and found that Home Depot was way cheaper than DirectBuy.
Where was the savings???
If you have a problem with your purchase from DirectBuy, forget it. They are not helpful at all. And according to another DirectBuy member, I see that if you complain DirectBuy will kick you out by voiding your membership. So keep your mouth shut or get screwed more.
DirectBuy sells you memberships by telling you about all of the savings you will get by buying from them. They show you the MSRP of retailers. What they don't tell you is that retailers do not sell at MSRP so what DirectBuy is showing you as savings is not true.
DirectBuy states that they sell to you for their cost which I believe is very untrue and a total lie as I happen to know that DirectBuy as with other retailers gets volume rebates from the manufactures and I have never heard of a DirectBuy Member getting a refund from the DirectBuy volume rebate. Members do not get true cost.
They spend allot of money on TV advertising and telemarketing. The have a boiler room in the back of the showroom where they house their telemarketers. Where do they get the money to do all of this? Selling at cost?
I would think that DirectBuy would be a good source for a class action suit.
Do NOT join DirectBuy, save your money.

I have found that shopping wise will save you just as much or more than direct buy. In many cases home depot was much less than direct buy and I did not have to pay $5,000.00 to join. I bought the best cabinets direct buy sells. I am so sorry I did.
You must be a direct buy owner. How could the average person spend the money you state? If you are a high end designer you again would not be a direct buy customer because they are not a high end retailer. They say they are but it is not true. So you must be a direct buy owner that has no consience or does not sleep at night. Which is it?

I cannot let this write up go unanswered because I'm a firm believer and user of DirectBuy Service.
As a DirectBuy member for over 23 yrs, I can positively tell you that I have saved $10's of thousands of dollar using the service! I joined in Detroit, MI along w/ co-workers, and family members. When we moved to MO, GA, and now Ft. Myers, my lifetime membership transfered w/ me. I saved $5k on my Winston outdoor patio furniture alone.
Today I placed an order for Levolor blinds saving 50% off what a retail store quoted me. I have purchased cabinets in multiple homes, carpeting, high end custom furniture to mention a few categories they carry.
Besides, who doesn't want to save money, save time shopping, and simply makes your life easier while furnishing/ building or sheer shopping for jewelry and gifts.
