I am an Interior Decorator and do a lot of "staging" for homes going to sale, and the internet has been a valuable and convenient resource to get items I need for my design business.

Most companies have FREE shipping or nominal costs that usually work out to be what I would pay in gas, driving around town for the same items!

I ordered bedding from Domestications.com for 3 bedrooms for a home I was staging. The items were "available" and in fact shipped out 2 days later. I needed them in the 7-10 business days, but did not recieve them for over THREE WEEKS. Turns out the postal rate that this company uses, gets your items to the main post office or weigh station in your state, and the items SIT there until something else arrives that is "going your way" or needs delivery in your area, or THREE weeks whichever comes first!

I had to make other arrangements for the home staging, so when the items arrived, I had to immediately return them.

NOW for the good part. Domestications wants the items returned in the same oversized boxes they were sent in through the post office. This came to a whopping $65.00 for 2 boxes, PLUS what I had already spent on shipping when I ordered the items. This is LUCICROUS.

I have had no response from Domestications customer service regarding this situation, but if consumers were armed with this information from the get go, no one would order anything from this company if there was the slightest chance they wouldn't love it, and might need to return it.

I feel they hold you hostage to their outrageous shipping costs, and I would have been better off KEEPING the items I didn't want or need, than returning them for 1/2 the cost of the items to begin with!

Buyer Beware,

Simple case of reading information wrong.

As stated in the catalog all order ship within 24-72 hrs not including weekends or holidays. So that is not a problem as to what your report said. Now depending on what state your in delivery averages 7-10 business days (2 weeks for most parts of the US). Unfortunately due to the nature of USPS deliveries that time can get extended in bulk mail centers like was already mentioned in the complaint. I can understand getting under a crunch and needing something at a certain time but if that's the case just give the extra $8 to get the order in 3-5 business days guaranteed.

Now as far as a return goes yes the buyer is responsible for return cost and they do ask that you return it in the original packaging, not original shipping box, just the packaging that protect the item from getting dirty/wet/damaged. If for some reason you were sent a box that was way oversized for your merchandise by all means go buy a box or get one for free at just about any retail outlet they are usually more than happy to get you a box for free.

Also if for any reason you are unhappy about something with any company always call them about it. A good company will be willing to help you with any problem within reason. But little things like this could have been resolved with a little phone call.
