Dotster advertises domain transfers for $6.99. When you click on the button to make a domain transfer, it goes through but then charges $10.37. I have been a long time customer of Dotster and am now appalled at their bait-and-switch with services.
I contacted customer service reps and they gave me the run-around:

We are currently running a transfer special that prices is only a recent change and is temporary.

Then they told me something different: "specials do not apply to your account." but the online offer says nothing of the sort. It doesn't list any exclusions and I am not getting any special discounted pricing.
Further discussion was cut off and I was told I was out of luck.
I can no longer recommend Dotster as a reliable domain registration company, registrar, hosting or internet services company.

After being told I was S.O.L. I told the folks at Dotster I had reported my experience online. Before the end of the day I received a notice that they would credit my account for the difference.
It's nice to know some companies still do care about taking care of their customers so I can't complain. It's just a shame I had to file a report.
