Dr. Jerry MacKenzie O.D. For Your Eyes Only Optometry False Prescription, Over $800 spent for glasses I didn't even need! Other optometrists have said my vision is perfect. Was told by J.D. MacKensie I need two kinds of glasses! Vancouver BritishColumbia

I went into For Your Eyes Only because I felt my vision was becomming poorer, and I found a Groupon for a good deal on an eye exam at this clinic.

When I went in, I was told that since this was my first visit, the Groupon would not apply. (I already paid $40 for the groupon which he would not honour) He said however that he would give me a great deal on glasses instead. He was very overpowring and pushy when I tried to ask questions about why he would not honour the groupon. I had the eye exam done and Dr. MacKenzie told me that I needed two pairs of glasses, one pair for distance and one pair for reading. He also tried to 

I went to the front of the store to look at frames, and the woman who helped me seemed like she didn't know anything about glasses whatsoever. I eventually decided on two pairs: transition lenses for distance/driving and regular reading glasses, since that is what he said I needed. He also aggressively tried to sell me prescription sunglasses but I declined. None of the glasses had price tags on them, and it seemed as if the woman helping me was making up the prices as she went along. I specifically said that I needed glasses for driving and Dr. MacKenzie recommended the transitions. He did not tell me that transition lenses do not change colour behind a windshield, and that was the whole point of me opting for those pricier lenses. I found this out after the fact.

The bill ended up being over $800, which I was told by Dr. MacKenzie was an excellent deal. One of the pairs of glasses I recieved were completely crooked when I got them, and when I went back to the clinic to have them adjusted, the woman told me glasses are not supposed to be straight. When I told her I wanted them straightened out, she tinkered with them very haphazardly and then gave them back to me still crooked. I left the clinic fuming.

I was told it would take a couple of weeks for my eyes to get used to the glasses, but after two months they were still giving me headaches. I was told to come back after two months of wearing the glasses to have a second exam, which I found out later was not normal. Instead of going back to Dr. MacKenzie I went to Mount Pleasant Optometry, as they had the best yelp reviews. My exam at MPO was much, much more thorough and I was told at the end of the exam that I do not need glasses.

Dr. MacKenzie is a scam artist who is giving people false prescriptions, and charging exorbient amounts for glasses that people do not even need.
