Drive Time preys on people that are severely credit challenged because they have no other alternative for transportation. I have heard supervisors stating that Drive Time predicts that a very large percent of their loans will go to collections, and possible repossession. In my financing experience in the auto business at another dealer, we could never get a loan funded based on the qualifications that I saw in the Drive time customer accounts. I wanted to bring this to your attention with the hope that some agency will look into this practice. Customers, were cheated and forced to accept the terms because they have very bad credit. I have thought this practice was bordering PREDATORY LENDING. So I did some research and found this definition; In the strictest and legal sense of the word Predatory lending refers to secured loans such as home or car loans which are made by the lender with the intention that the borrower can't really pay them which would allow the lender to seize the car or home and sell it for a profit. The word has been expanded to refer to the practice of convincing borrowers to agree to unfair and abusive loan terms. This could be done either through outright deception or through aggressive sales tactics, taking advantage of borrowers' lack of understanding of extremely complicated transactions. Predatory loans, for instance, for the purchase of a home, could lead to foreclosure. Beware when you signed the contracts. It is a widely used practice that the DT sales staff rushes the customer through so that they really do not read what they are signing. Thanks for reading:)

There are so many other options than Drive Time, especially in the area you are in. I know this for a fact, as I lived there. I have lived in the Mesa area, Apache Junction and Phoenix.
For the amount of down payment drive time requires, you could pay in full for a good used car from a private party.
There are also HUNDREDS of "buy here-pay here" car lots in your area within a 25 mile radius.
Don't ever let fast talking sales jerks push you around. Grow some backbone and just get up and walk away. Or stop them in mid conversation and just tell them "hey~ slow down~ I need to read this".
YOU need to maintain control in any transaction involving a major purchase.
Do not let anyone "force" anything on you.

Year ago, I was severely credit challenged. I didn't go to Drive Time, but did get a bad loan. I would not have signed if I could not afford the monthly payment. Even though the rate was very high, I still signed. I needed a car.
Anyway, I made good on all the payments. Got another car at a lower interest rate (still high) and made good on all those payments too. Guess what? After about 4 years of ontime payments, I got my next car at 4.9% interest. Yeah! Never thought that would happen.
If there weren't those "bad credit" places, whether it be for cars or credit cards, I would not have the good credit history I now have. I would have no credit history, which is just as bad as bad credit history. Yes, it might have cost me an extra $10,000 - $15,000 over the last 4-5 years, but I feel it was worth it to be out of that mess.
The last few years was the time people should have been using the credit they could finally get to their advantage. It was easy to find a job and make money to pay extra to have better credit worthiness. Instead many people just chose to live in their old ways as a credit risk and now their crying, feeling like they were wronged. They really wronged themselves.
