Our Home Warranty Company sent EICO to our home because we reported that our furnace would not stay on. The technician came out and told us that our heat exchanger had to be replaced and he had to shut our furnace off because it was not safe for it to be on, and it was a health hazard for us. I was very upset about this because it was in February 2013 and we were having a very cold winter. After a week of not hearing from EICO, my husband called them and "Debbie" told him that it would be 2-3 days for the part to be received. After those days had passed and we still had not heard further from them, I called the Home Warranty Co and they told me that Eico had told them that my furnace was still under warranty and the owner (me) would have to call Lennox to order the part. EICO never called us to tell us that, and it was now 2 weeks without heat. And so began the saga of calling Lennox, and the Home Warranty Co, and finding out that the information EICO had given the Home Warranty Co was wrong.

It was true that our furnace was still under warranty and I suspect that when EICO found out that they could not charge us extra for working on a furnace that was under warranty they just dropped us and did not contact us again. But here's the kicker, the problem was not even the heat exchanger! We were 3 weeks without heat and when we finally did get someone else to check out the furnace, the problem was in the flame rod and thermostat, both of which had to be replaced. Our heat was back on the same day the new technician came out!

I read the report about EICO on Ripoff Report.com and immediately notified my Home Warranty Co, so I hope they will not use them anymore. I'm glad my furnace was still under warranty for the heat exchanger or I'm sure EICO would have made a nice profit from me and my Home Warranty Co. Do not trust them - they are in business to charge you for repairs you don't need.

I know who these people are and tried at length to get them to understand the gravity of the situation. My tech went to the home and discovered a cracked heat exchanger. Not only was it visible, it was also detacted with the carbon monoxide detector we utilize in the field. It is our companies policy to take pictures of all issues such as these. We tried in vein to get these people to understand that this could kill them. Obviously, they are still utilizing a furnace with a cracked heat exchanger that WILL kill them. It is very alarming that someone could be this uneducated and ignorant to the facts.

As for the parts and their availability, we are given our information from the warranty company. We merely report what we are told. The information we gave the warranty company was factual and accurate. If these people chose to be ignorant to the facts and live with a time bomb of a furnace, that is up to them. I ask that these people provide their proof that this information they are reporting is even close to accurate. It is false and inflammatory.

This complaint indicates that they felt as though we found out it was under warranty and didn't want to do the job because we wouldn't make any money on it, and then their report contradicts itself by stating that we were trying to make a nice profit from them. Which is it? Am I a crook making lots of cash or an idot who cannot diagnose a simple heat exchanger under warranty who didn't want to do the job because there was no profit??? The truth is that the warranty company would have paid the same amount for the installation regardless of warranty status.

Just so you know, we continue to do work for this warranty company and 10 others. We have a reputation in the industry for disgnosing and fixing things that others cannot. Once again I ask that this person back up their claims and more importantly, get their affairs in order. If they still have that cracked heat exchanger and are using it, it is a matter of time before they will de dead. That is the real shame of this situation, not the slanderous and inflammatory report that is not even close to being accurate.
