I could not log in to Hotmail.com So I went to the hotmail.com site and called the phone number for computer assistance. After telling me a hacker from Mexico had hacked into my computer, the technician said he could clean up my computer of viruses and make it all safe from hackers. But, it would cost 399.99. I was depserate as I was doing my taxes and I needed some emailed files right away. I argued with the guy saying how do I know you're not a scam?! And he said well, you called me, I did not call you. So I paid the money and it took him about 5 hours to clean the computer (or so I thought). 30 days later, the same thing happened. I could not get into my hotmail email account. So I went to the hotmail site and called the number for help and got a different company named Omnitech Support. I argued again, are you just scamming me a second time??!! No, he said there were embedded bugs in my system and he would need to clean them out. Another 3-5 hours and then they upsold me for another $299.99 for a back up system to their "cloud." Now, I cannot get that "cloud" off my computer. Both companies took control of my computer whether through "gotoassist" through Citrix or something similar. The first time I thought it was a scam but the technician assured me it wasn't because I called him, he didn't call me. And, he said, this payment would allow me computer help for a year!
