I sold a domain name to a buyer in the agreed upon amount of $3,000. We both agreed to use the services of Escrow.Com to act as a third party.
Escrow.Com would hold the $3,000 until the domain was transferred and then send payment via next day delivery which they charged me $20 for.
I transferred complete ownership of the domain name over to the buyer and after the agreed upon expection period of one day expired Escrow.com sent the $3,000 payment in the form of a check from their trust account.
I deposited the check and received notice from my bank that Escrow.Com placed a stop payment on the check.
I never received an email or phone call to notify me of this. After I discovered that Escrow.Com placed the stop payment I emailed them and received a reply that" The buyer had a family emergency and decided not to purchase the domain".
But, the domain was already transferred into the buyers ownership and I think that Escrow.Com should have notified the buyer that the transaction was already completed per terms that both the seller and buyer agreed to.
I am now out of my domain name and the agreed upon payment of $3,000. I have emailed both the buyer and Escrow.Com to no avail., they won't even reply to the emails.
DO NOT USE their services for any transaction!!! I have since discovered that they do this on a regular basis! Use other escrow services!
