Back in September, after turning down a great paying over-the-road truck driving job offer(NO family time), my family and I decided we would like to move back to the town we came from, to be closer to our family, and because THAT job was why we moved in the first place. Needing a source of income first, I logged onto our hometown's online forum, we seen that the USPS was hiring....or so we thought. "USworkalliance" was the company to contact regarding the employment position, with a provided 800 number. I called, and of course they were more than obliged to take my money (via debit card) and send me a out-dated paperback test & information "book."
The day after all this, I had mail to deliver. I decided to go inside and ask the postmaster about this USworkalliance. Here's where the trouble begins. After I told her what I had done, she got a grim look in her face. "You didn't?" "The only way to get into the USPS is through the USPS, we do not deal with ANY outside empyment arrangements or agencies. If they mislead you into thinking that they had ANYTHING to do with us, they lied." The CAP letters are words she emphasized on.
Immediately after that, I checked to see what kind of things have been reported on these people. I found this site, along with a few others who have been scammed as well.
I contacted my bank to see if I could get the charges disputed. I did get a refund, until recently. The refund had been reversed, and I'm still out my $130. Conviently, this all happened the same day I got refunded $400 from a debit card fraud in Mexico. After all this, I am closing my account at my bank simply because they provide terrible service, primarily investigating. It's loud and clear these people cannot provide anyone with anything, other than their pockets with your money.
If anyone is brave enough to "defend" that so-called business (scam inc.), provide me with the names of USPS employees who went through you guys. Being they are not employed by you, there is no "client confidentiality." Also, just because they continue to pursue the USPS job and get it, does NOT mean USworkalliance provided any sort of assistance. Being you cannot provide legitimate testimonials, there is no real point for you to even be "in business."
As far as I know, EVERY LOCAL LIBRARY contains the books you'd need to study to take the tests. You can check these out with either a small deposit, of for free. Don't let this happen to you as well. These people will get a death-grip on your money and not let go. Their refund policy is rigged as well, basically impossible to provide the things they demand to give you your refund.
Thanks for shorting me and my family our Christmas funds. Being we live paycheck to paycheck, much like the majority or American does, the scam amount is a bit steep. How do you sleep at night?

Through much determination and good connections, I AM EMPLOYED (as a TE) through the USPS.....no thanks to the USWA. Still, I am out my $100+ dollars, but in knowing what will someday come to those scumbags scamming innocent people who really need that money, it somewhat relieves me. Anymore, with inflation and continually rising gas prices, how can a human being do something so despicable to another in need?....Honestly?
Just figured I'd drop an update on the situation, and let everyone know that working for the USPS is not for everyone. It's nowhere as easy as it looks. All terrains, all elements, dogs, cats.....and it's the people that are the worst!! All in all, it's not too bad, but be in shape and look into what you'll be doing before you try to jump into this thing with both feet. On average, a city carrier walks 10+ miles, and rural carriers sometimes drive 100+ miles on their routes. Rurals can make up their time in driving...carrying is a whole nother can of worms, if you want to make up time that is.

USPS scam also known as USWorkerAlliance or using the phone 1-866-735-8779

I had to respond to this post because I was just reading the classified section of my local newpaper The Democrat & Chronicle, in Rochester, New York when I spotted this advertisement (1/27/08) that reads:
Post Office Now Hiring
Avg. Pay $20/hour or $57K/yr. including Federal Benefits, OT. Offer placed by Exam Services, not aff. w/USPS which does hiring.
1-866-735-8779
Now, it might be tempting for those who are seeking work at the moment, but please DO NOT answer this advert believing it was published by the US Post Office. Here are a few facts for people who want to work for the Government without being scammed.
Anyone who wants to work for the Post Office MUST take a Civil Service Exam. First, these exams are only administered through the state, city, county where you live. There will be an application to fill out and very small application fee (around $15 in my county). The check/money order (never a credit card) must be payable to the CITY or COUNTY's Finance Director - not XYZ company or Mr. or Mrs. X. It will never be $129. That is an outrageous fee.
Second, all the Civil Service Exams are listed for FREE on your city website. The exam guides for all Civil Service positions are FREE at your local library. All you need is a library card.
Third, the Post Office never hires an outside agency to pre-screen applicants. You are made eligible for government employment, including the Post Office, through testing for the Civil Service Exam you choose.
Fourth, this company is not functioning honestly if their customer service reps don't mention that all of their information can also be obtained for free at the local library.
I hope this prevents anyone else from falling for these scams.
P.S. I don't think these people are calling themselves 'Work Alliance' anymore. They were listed without a company name in my newpaper just this 1-866-735-8779 number. I googled their phone number and found this site.

Generous? You can't scam AND be generous at the same time.

Whatever....you claim you guys are "generous"? If you are providing such a great service to the people in need, why is the price so steep? Especially for a book you can get on EBAY for around $30 at most?? As for the employees....it's sad to see that your company has so many people by the balls, that even those around you have no choice but to do your bidding, just to keep food in their familes' mouths. IF it's so legit, why don't they buy your lies, and go apply to the USPS then? Your so called "refund" policy is such a tightly secured assurance for you guys, you'll NEVER have to give money back. People would have to practically thread a log chain through a needle hole to get a penny out of you....it's that impossible.
I have a baby now...should I even get the slightest smell that someone is trying to scam people like you guys have....oh.... ....
You can't dangle illusions of grandeur in front of the desperate and not expect backlash...
Another funny thing, after I reported you guys to several online surveillance sites, many of yur falsified job advertisements have been removed from the town forums you guys posted on.
I'm still not done yet. Just wait.

I am an ex-employee of Exam Services. I do not know how much I can say because of all of the differant paperwork I had to sign but here it goes.
I worked for Exam Services for over 6 months. The revolving door for employees was tremendous. When I first started working there I was elated to be "helping people" and the pay was descent. Employees were expected to get so many sales per hour, day, week, or period. If you didn't make them a certain amount of money, you were out the door for poor performance. The script I had to read for the "customers" was so convincing I believed it myself. I had a family to feed so I kept my blinders on. However, by the end, I was having panic attacks driving down the road on my way to work every day. The stress of doing what I knew in MY heart was wrong was affecting my life.
It was very hard for me to press people for their money. The last call I took was a woman who broke down crying because she couldn't afford pampers for her baby much less a book for an exam. The job ate at me over time and eventually I quit. I am not a disgruntled employee at all. I liked my fellow employees and most of my supervisors. I have no information as far as what went on behind the curtain. All I can tell anyone who is reading this....If you are asked for money DON'T DO IT! You should never have to pay for a job. I know that Exam Services does not guarantee employment, however, what do they do? They give an impression. And they walk on a very slippery slope.
I am a good person but I had a very unethical job. I wonder if I was the one who took your call? Or so many countless others? That is something that I have to live with and I am sorry.

We Are Not The USPS, But We Can Help You Get The Job
AUTHOR: Devin, US Work Alliance, Public Relations - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, January 02, 2008
Neond1984,
US Work Alliance/Exam Services is not a scam. We are an independent, private company that provides study guide materials for those who want help in preparing for the Postal Service Exam.
While we regret any inconvenience that you may have had while dealing with our company, we feel we still can be of service you. Let me explain what we do, and then maybe you'll have a better understanding of how our service can work in your favor.
In the same way that many independent companies offer study guides for the SAT or LSAT to help students achieve a better score on those tests, we offer an extensive study guide and other educational materials to help people better prepare for the Postal Service Exam. The Postal Battery Exam is a competitive exam that can be taken only once every twelve months and candidates must pass with a minimum score of 70% to even be considered for an interview. It is in people's best interest to prepare for the exam and our aim is to help people prepare for this test so that they will pass with an outstanding score and increase their probability of being asked for an interview.
When customers call our 800-number, we fully describe our product and related services. Our customer service representatives follow a strict script to comply with Attorney General as well as post master guidelines to keep our company credible and ethical.
Our customer service representatives are highly trained, and many of them have taken the Postal Battery Exam themselves in order to better relate with customers that call in for our study guide. We have an in-house PhD in Education that reviews our study guides and makes sure they correlate well with the actual test. Our material consists of a 340 page study booklet which includes several full length practice tests which are not outdated, but if you were to check the USPS test booklets, most were updated last in April 2005 and November 2004. Our study guide was last updated in January 2007. These practice exams allow you to time yourself so that you know what pace to work during the actual exam. Our material also includes a learning assessment, personality profile, interviewing tips, email notification of tests and job openings in the area and customer service representatives available to answer any questions. Neither the USPS nor the library offers a package like ours.
Lastly, we provide a generous refund policy that we feeel works in favor of our custmers. We offer a refund if; 1) you do not pass the exam, 2) if you pass the exam and are called in for an interview and don't get offered the job, 3) if you pass the exam and are called in for an interview and are offered the job and accept it and complete one full week of work, 4) if you do not have the opportunity to take an exam in your area for one year.
We also can help remedy your concerns about a refund more effectively than your bank did. Please contact us with these concerns and any other questions that you may have at 800-584-1859

how to get your refund...
AUTHOR: Mytwocents - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, January 02, 2008
Here's my two cents about you placing your order... When you placed your order they said to you the refund policy immediately after telling you the cost. If you didn't agree to the policy, you should have kept your debit card in your wallet. It's that simple. But you gave your card anyway.
ALL calls are recorded, and that's why your bank reversed the refund. Because you can say one thing, but there's a recording of you AGREEING to the policy. So.
Here's how you can recoup your 99.50. The shipping and handling won't be refunded to you.
It'll be refunded to you under these three conditions, and these three conditions ONLY.
- If you fail the exam - USPS will send your scores to your address usually within 2 weeks of taking the exam. If you fail (score lower than a 70 on the postal battery exam) you would need to fax a copy of that to exam services.
- If you are not offered a job on your first interview - USPS will send you a rejection letter, again, you need to fax that to exam services.
- Once you've completed your first week as a new postal employee - You'd fax them proof of employment (paystub or similar)
What appears to be the problem here is that you didn't listen when you were on the phone with the sales rep. It's OK to be excited, but if you're in any way concerned, take notes. Call back later. Keep your card in the wallet until you've researched the product.
You cannot just NOT take the exam and expect a refund.
You bought the product - which is a study guide to prepare you for the exam.
Yes, you can get it for free in the library, but it's usually a lower quality book, probably been all marked up from lots of other people with the same idea, and outdated.
Honestly, you probably don't need the book to take the exam, but, like the SAT's, it helps to prepare.
and that's MyTwoCents.
