Findley Nolte Honda Sold us a car they said could flat tow behind motorhome and destroyed transmission instead Ripoff Kingman Arizona

If you are towing this car or any car for long distances and as you say, because you are/were full time RV'ers, why not DO IT RIGHT and avoid excess tire/mechanical wear by investing not in a tow dolly, but a flat tow trailer?????

What is somewhat "curious" here is if what the seller said is true and they made the offer of the new transmission and check, why wouldn't you want to take the offer?  No, its not "a matter of principle".  They were willing, as per their rebuttal, to make you whole.  Why would you NOT take that offer....unless....there's more to the story like buyer's remorse and you're just cooking up some story to trash the store.

Just to clear my name. I am the one who was sold the car. We did not trade in a similar car. We traded in a red jeep which was a stick and knew it could be towed 4 wheels down. We were told by the salesman that the Honda civic could be towed 4 down and he offered to put the tow equipment on. We were on the road and did not have the time so we had it put on at Camping World in Vegas.

He has received no respnse from us because we were never contacted. The only contact we had was the first encounter when this all happened. He was very rude and basically called us a liar. Typical car salesman...

We are over it now and have bought a better car that we are sure can be towed 4 down. We were not looking for a fight just honest compensation. But to be called a liar and receive this type of treatment was unacceptable. We want nothing more to do with this company and just wanted to warn others that no matter what your issue is with them, they are not honest.

We are over it now and have moved on. We actually now live in a city near them and refuse to do any business with them.

Just another fair warning of buyer beware because they do not have your best interest at heart.

Customer called me requesting amount stated. Said salesmen told him it was flat towable. When i questioned my salesmen on the issue he stated customer never mentioned it to him. Salesmen has been with us for many years and has never had an issue like this before. I beleive because customer traded in the same model Honda that was a year or two older then one he purchased that he assumed the new one was towable as well. I askey customer why he did not request an install of a tow hitch if he was going to tow the vehicle, because we obviously would have told him it is not flat towable at that time. He gave no response said he did it on his owne. Still wanting the customer to be satisfied I offered to send him a new transmission and a check for what the labor would have cost us to do. Customer declined the offer. I beleive the customer was just looking to score some extra money or why else would he decline that offer. I am still years later willing to pay this amount to the customer if he simply call me and provide me with receipts. This is not the first time i have made this request. It has been years now if customer truly had spent $6000.00 you would think he would want to recoup some of that money but as of 06/09/2011 NO RESPONSE!

Do not go asking some know-nothing who may simply tell you what they think you want to hear.... or a know-nothing who simply wishes to sell you something.

Auto trans (usually) have a single pump which moves the ATF around to lubricate all of the tranny internals. This pump is driven by the ENGINE connected to that tranny. So if you want to tow a car with a single-pump auto tranny, you must tow with that car's engine running so the pump will lube the output shaft & usually part of the gear cluster.

Auto trannys USED to have TWO pumps, with the rear pump driven by the tranny output shaft. An auto tranny with a rear pump (two pumps total) CAN be towed on all four wheels. Today the (older) Saturn *MIGHT* be the only car to have an auto tranny with a rear pump.... but I think the new Saturn, based on an Opel, has a single-pump auto tranny. Check some RV bulletin board sites.

Food for thought: A few times in the past, some auto trannys have jumped into gear on their own, and if this happened to the vehicle you were towing on all four wheels in neutral as you were merrily cruising at 60 mph.... well, you can figure it out.

Use a tow dolly ALL THE TIME from now on.
