First American Title Insurance Company I went to refi my house loan on Friday. I was told we had to pay zero closing costs so we went into First American Title Insurance Company and signed all the final papers. We thought we were finished. Come Monday morning I recieve a call from my loan officer saying that FIrst American Title Insurance Company messed up on our account and decided that we actually have to pay 1400 dollars in closing costs. This is after we already signed all the papers. They said if we don't pay the money we won't close the loan. Very irritating. Trying to research and find out if this is aganst the law because it really seems like it would be. I strongly suggest NO one should use First American Title Insurance Company. They are horrible!!!!!!

AUTHOR: Ben Day Hole - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, October 28, 2017

One day in the future I will tell my story and my experience. I have talked to a lady that refused to give me her name but she told me she would give me copies of documents that I would greatly appreciate having that some body in California would not want me to have I met a lady at a restaurant or fast food restaurant and she and I were talking and she told me some of the things that she seen go on it was a very interesting conversation and she told me that if I wanted she would be willing to give me copies of documents that the company does not want me to have that have my name on it The story would be explosive Ben Day Hole

Contact your loan officer or bank rep. This is not title's fault.

AUTHOR: 07ultraclassic - (United States of America)

The title company (in Washington) follows directions given by your loan officer or bank. They are not the ones that messed up. The bank messed up in their directions to them.

Contact your loan officer, underwriter or loan processor that was helping with the loan, request the loan officer contribute some to help out with these new expenses/costs that you were previously not advised of.

Breach of Contract or Agreement

AUTHOR: Judicial - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, October 20, 2011

You do have an action to make them accept their first agreement, it is called breach of Contract in the law.

The law considers an agreement that is signed by all parties to the agreement to be binding.  Therefore amendments can only be made if agreed to by all parties.  So if you signed an agreement and received a signed agreement by First American Title they can not change the terms without your agreement.  This works both ways, so if you do or did agree to pay the additional money then now it is to late to do anything if you signed or anyway agreed to the increased payment, including paying it.

First American Title is not a good company and usually works with the sellers and not the buyers, so beware doing business with them, on this website you can read other horror stories of people who have problems with them.

My ex-wife has a current problem which is also a horror story and it appears she will have to sue if she wants justice.
