In December 2009, I agreed to purchase a television from Frys Electronics in Phoenix, AZ. The special offer was based on using Frys credit via First Electronic Bank of Draper, Utah. If I agreed to purchase the television using Frys Credit, I would have no interest and a great price for one year from the date of purchase.

I agreed to the purchase and received my first invoice in January 2010 that was due on January 20, 2010. The total amount was $2346.16. I immediately set up equal payments of $200 per month on the 20th of every month until the final month of December 2010 in which I sent a payment of $146.16 to First Electronic Bank. All of this was done via an automatic payment program that I set up using my Bank of America bank account.

Everything appeared to be fine until the first part of January 2011 when I received my final statement showing that I now owed First Electronic Bank $280.68 in deferred interest as my last payment was received by First Electronic Bank on 12/20/10 but was due on 12/19/10. Hence, I now owed First Electronic Bank all of the deferred interest for the year.

At no time did I know that the final payment date was changed or moved up. Hence my final payment showed up a day late.

Can you help me with this exasperating situation? I have contacted Frys Credit and each and every time they refuse to give me anyone that will listen to my situation. Instead they continue to recite to me the financing policy and that I am now past due with First Electronic Bank.

Please contact me as now First Electronic Bank wants to charge me interest on interest if my new payment for them for $280.68 is not paid by January 22, 2011.

Frys Credit - 12 Months, Same as Cash

AUTHOR: signmanmatt - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, September 07, 2012

I knew better, but I did it anyhow. I put $1800 worth of items on the Fry's Credit Card because I was offered 12 months, same as cash. No interest if paid in full within 18 months. I went home and well within 30 days of purchase, I paid $200 off the balance. Today I went to make another payment and my available balance was $169.86 instead of $200? Of course, none of the hyperlinks work on the site to take you to a statement, or recent activity, or account services. Not even Help or Logout works on the site?

I panicked and paid off the balance. They may have burned me for $30.14, but that's all. I felt silly for panicking, but when I called and spoke to a rep, they said if I wanted to dispute whether or not my purchase qualified for a 12 month, same as cash promo, I certainly could. Of course during the dispute process, I will accrue interest, however, if found in my favor, I will be credited back the amounts mis-charged. Sooner or later.

I'm now glad I paid it off, and I will dispute the interest charge, and try to let everyone know what happens next. If you cannot tell, I am doing everything I can to refrain from cursing First Electronic Bank. And I am going to add: "Shame on you Fry's" for connecting your store with these people. You're better than that, I would hope.
