My disabled daughter was flimflammed into signing a contract for a Kirby Vacuum cleaner by 3-4 salespeople who came to her door. She just now told me that she has been paying $53.68 a month for over a year and still owes for 2 years more. She was not aware of the interest rate even though it was on the paper that she signed. This is unconscionable. Freedom Enterprises sold the 'contract' to United Consumer Financial Services of Louisville, KY. I have warned her to not let anyone in the house, but she doesn't think clearly and in fact, was hospitalized the same month of the 'sale'. 1) $1400 for a vacuum cleaner is ridiculous. It was shown as $2395 retail. (Big Bargain!) 2) No company should send multiple sales people to a house and 'gang' up on an individual. 3) No legitimate company would scam anyone into paying 22.29% interest over a 3 year period.

It is interesting that it took 3 years for you to respond. Which of these entities do you represent: the salespeople, the vacuum cleaner company, or the financers? Do you have any personal knowledge of this situation?
These sales people 'ganged' up on my daughter and with her disability, she was unable to think clearly. There was no need for multiple people to come into her home. Not all sales people are 'honest' and for sure these didn't consider her disabillity!
My daughter's credit record was spotless and could not have been considered questionable. I look at free credits reports yearly from all 4 bureaus. If anyone has perfect credit, we do! We contributed to her finances and she was afraid to tell me that she had been 'scammed' until it was too late to cancel the contract! If she was a poor credit risk, the sales people should not have sold it in the first place!
The Product may be great, however, the price was outrageous and the method of sale was threating to a mentally ill person.
As for your calling me ignorant and a WHINER, you have a right to your opinion. However, I know the facts of the case and unless you were one of the sales people or representing the vacuum cleaner company or the financer, then your opinion is of no value in this case.

The interest is based off of credit. If her credit was questionable then she got a higher rate. Same with any loan. As far as being tricked in any way, there is no fine print on the contract. there are big bold letters and numbers for what she signed up for. There was also a period for cancellation which is put in place to be FAIR to customers and also includes company information, phone, fax, address, etc. and give them an opportunity to communicate with the company managers. The people in her home were SALES people. They go out and worked hard to make an honest living and people like you (who has NOTHING to do with the sale) trashing something that you are obviously ignorant about, just makes you look uneducated, negative and a poor judge of great American made products.
