Funmobile advertised free ring tones for your cellular phone. After carefully looking at their web site to make sure there was no catch to the free ring tone, I downloaded one to my cell phone, only to find out I had signed up for

I immediately cancelled the joke service on line (they didn't answer the phone number listed on their web site), and called Verizon wireless. They said they had many complaints about funmobile, and suggested I cancel the service immediately, and check back with them if a charge actually appeared on my bill.

Sure enough, a $5.99 charge (plus tax) appeared on my next bill, so I called Verizon back. They immediately credited my account for the charge. Funmobile is apparently an offshore company, so there appears that noone in the US has jurisdiction over their practices. So beware of any "free" cell phone services. They may give you more grief than you bargained for.
