We would all like to think we are smart and saavy when it comes to our remodeling dollars.  The truth is- we are sometimes all to vulnerable to scam artists who betray our trust and take our money. My personal observations follow. 

Mr. Gabe Castillo and his hoodlum family and friends have scammed many clients by charging for electrical and contractor services not performed or poorly performed.  Materials go missing. Valuables go missing.   Mr. Castillo goes missing.

Craigslist, word of mouth friends, false advertisements, public subcontracts are where he can be found trolling for his next victims.   His MO is much like that described here by others.  He performs small tasks, gains trust and then asks for funding for bigger tasks, then slowly disappears.  

Mr. Castillo has a public criminal record going back over 20 years.  He has most often been arrested for theft of check, DUI and for theft of services.  He has been known to use his sons, brother, cousins, friends, former felons, etc to carry out his brazen criminal activity and fraud. He has served time incarcerated and is known to his POs.

It is shameful that many of the innocent workers, desperate for employment, who provided services on his contracts were left without their duly earned pay when he disappeared on payday, pocketing their wages for himself.  Many were brave enough to file criminal charges for theft of services.  Others did not know how to navigate the system, and were left with nothing.

Mr. Gabe Castillo, in my experience, is all the things people have called him here and worse- thief; scam artist; con man; fraudster; thug; a weak, insecure laughingstock.
