Gateway energy services advertises as the company is a cheaper alternative to the utility company. But this company is a fraud. They suck you in with a free gift card just for signing up (1st hint). The customer service rep told me that the company on an average charged the customers 10% LESS than the utility company. The first time when I called the company, they were about 25% more than what PSEG charged and I thought that was ridiculous. Now I saw bill and was shocked to see the bill about 42% more than the utility company!
My gas bill charged by Gateway is 141.04 (@84.9 cents/therm)
The same bill would have been 99.82 (@60cents /therms) if I had been with PSEG
This is a pure rip off company. Buyers .. BEWARE!

All any consumer wants from their electricity supplier is reliable service at a fair price. It is outrageous that companies like Gateway Energy appear to be misrepresenting their rates as competitive when they are in fact much higher. This practice of overcharging for electricity appears to be a blatant violation of consumer protection laws, and Meiselman, Denlea, Packman, Carton & Eberz, P.C. is actively investigating a potential class action against Gateway Energy.
