I am a promotional model of African American descent I apply to GC Marketing constantly and never get booked for job even through I have worked for very established companies in the past. Most recently when I finally receiveda booking from GC they offered the job at $15 an hr while working we found out that there was another agency staffing the event and their staff was getting paid $25 an hour which is $10 more than we were.

I spoke to the manager Jenn who informed me that GC usually bills the client for $50 an hr per model but then pays us what they feel like we deserve. Also Heather Preston who is VP of booking is mean spirited and confrontational.

I spoke to her about concerns regarding a booking and she proceeded to tell me to F-off and if I wanted to work I would get off the phone so she can do more important things. I have worked with numerous marketing companies in the past and GC is the only one I can say has been the worst experience. My checks have been late and short.

With promotional modelling it is a very hard life since we have no union to protect us we put our trust in these companies and after we do a great job for them we would expect them to treat us with respect this is not the case for GC. I would not recommend this company to anyone! Stay clear if you want to get paid and do not want to be treated like a slave.

I've been signed up with GC Marketing Services for two years, and just recently have been booked to work different events. Im guessing they want people that are always updating their profiles, to see if your really serious about your work. They don't have interviews, nor see you in person, so how you log-in and update your profile is how they can see if your serious about working. The event i recently worked payed me $18 an hour and there were other event staffs on the job and they told me they were getting paid $25. Either their lying or their some type of leader. I love Heather, she's the type of "boss" that does'nt really bother you, unless your doing your job, respectfully. So you have no point in being upset and writing a report on ripoff report about GC Marketing or Heather Preston. And once you get booked, you would definatly start getting booked for more events. Just dont stop applying. i <3 GCMS!!

I think the racist thing comes from your head. I'm hispanic and I've never had any problems with them. I've worked several events for GC Marketing where I find not only african american brand ambassadors, but white, asian, hispanic. I've talked to Heather a lot of times, and I've talked to the account department, and they've been nothing but nice to me. I would probably say Heather is a little cold when she talks, but she's never been disrespectful to me.


About payments, well, they've always been on time. I would receive my check within 4 weeks without a problem.

Hey there. I'm going to say I agree with half you wrote, but first, the disagreement. I don't know if I'd be so quick to pull the race card. I get tons of emails from GC, and I've belonged to them for almost a year, but I've only gotten picked for maybe 3 events. I'm also in the NYC area. Before assuming that they're intentionally ignoring you, remember that it's not GC picking you out, it's their clients. Also, consider how many people are registered in the NYC area. I don't know the exact number, but I think it's safe to say it's a lot! So for every email they send out, they can easily get like 300 responses or more!

As for the payment, I've never had an issue with late payments, as I have other companies. I had an issue with another company in which I waited almost 3 months for payment. However, I got several emails from them saying that the client was taking forever to pay, so they really had no control over that.

Also, as far as rates go, it's common for companies to vary. I did a promo 2 years ago with one company that paid $20/hr. Another company was doing the promo at the same exact time, same area, for $22/hr.

But now, the agreement part! Heather, omg. I didn't remember her til you mentioned her. She is just RUDE! I was supposed to do a promo last June, but 2 days before the promo, I fell off of my bike - like - full out flying over the handlebars, etc. I literally couldn't move my forearms without being in immense pain, so there was no way I could do the promo 2 days later. I called GC (with the phone on my desk on speakerphone b/c I couldn't bend my arms to my ears) and explained everything to Heather, saying that it hurt to turn my doorknob, nevermind driving a car to the promo site! She was unsympathetic and really really rude. I've debated emailing GC to complain about her. Perhaps I should.
